An Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) system includes a shared storage that stores data corresponding to files, a file system, and ESB infrastructure functions. The ESB system includes a metadata registry storing metadata associated with the ESB infrastructure functions, separate from the ESB infrastructure functions, and includes storage location information of the ESB infrastructure functions. The ESB system includes a processor configured to receive a request for access to the file system. The processor sends a portion of the metadata registry to a client device, the portion including a portion of the metadata and a directory structure identifying a set of the ESB infrastructure functions that the client device is authorized to access, the portion of the metadata allowing the client device to access a first infrastructure function of the set based on the storage location information. The processor further provides the first infrastructure function to the client device.

Computer architectures using shared storage

Shared storage architectures and methods are provided. A particular shared storage architecture is a system including shared storage including data and file system metadata separated from the data. The file system metadata includes location data specifying storage location information related to the data. Services are provided from service providers to service consumers through the shared storage.

Methods and apparatus are provided for standardizing an interface infrastructure between sensor devices and client applications. The apparatus comprises a Sensor Application Integration Framework (SAIF) in the form of an application program interface (API) transport layer between sensor devices and client applications. Sensor services are registered in the SAIF API as interface definitions, and the client applications search the interface definitions corresponding to desired sensor services. An interactive handshake of messages and data between client applications and sensor services is implemented via the SAIF API by means of standard communication protocols such as XML. The SAIF API abstracts the details of the underlying sensor hardware from the client application, and can therefore function as a standard interface for sensor simulation, for sensor emulation, and for an active sensor device. The SAIF API hardware and associated software are generally compatible with commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) technology.
