Support orthopaedic device () for a knee joint, comprising a proximal connector () and a distal connector (), articulated among themselves and respectively intended to be associated with a proximal bone () and a distal bone () of a lower limb connected among themselves by a knee joint. The device comprises a first rod (a) and a second rod (b), which are hinged, according to hinging axes normal to a median excursion plane of the orthopaedic device (), to the proximal connector () and to the distal connector () so as to form with them an articulated quadrilateral. The articulated quadrilateral is planarly mobile according to a plane parallel to the excursion plane between a configuration corresponding to an extended position of the knee joint and configurations corresponding to bendings of different entity of the knee joint; the relative motion imposed to the proximal and distal connectors () by the articulated quadrilateral is consistent with the physiological movement of the knee joint.

Support orthopaedic device for a knee joint

The present invention regards an orthopedic device to be associated with the outside of a bone and of the type comprising a support rail, extended along a central longitudinal axis substantially parallel to the bone, at least two clamps mounted slidably along the axis on the support rail and supporting endosseous screws insertable into the bone, and a distractor/compressor device removably attachable to the two clamps by means of respective connection pins inserted into corresponding holes of each clamp, wherein each clamp comprises a clamp body having a base or lower jaw and a lid, or upper jaw as well as two screws for fixing the upper jaw to the lower jaw Advantageously the holes for the connection pins are aligned along a line that is extended substantially parallel to the axis with at least one hole for the connection pins of the remaining clamp also being aligned along the line, thus making the overall structure of the clamps mounted on the orthopedic device particularly compact.

An intramedullary nail for a fractured elongated bone, comprising a cannulated rod having proximal and distal ends; an outside tubular sleeve for coaxially hosting and guiding the rod; and at least a pair of shape memory elements hosted in corresponding seats at the distal end of the rod. Each shape memory element can be retractably housed in its seat in a first configuration, allowing insertion of the nail into the bone, and can project from a sleeve opening in another configuration. Pairs of transversal holes are provided in proximal portions of the rod and the sleeve. The distal pair of shape memory elements lie on an offset plane to the plane of the proximal holes and are kept in their corresponding seats by a distal cover fixed to the rod. This improves the stability of the nail in the medullary canal.

Intramedullary nail with shape memory elements for elongated bones

An intramedullary nail for a fractured elongated bone, comprising a cannulated rod having proximal and distal ends; an outside tubular sleeve for coaxially hosting and guiding the rod; and shape memory elements hosted in corresponding seats of the rod. Each shape memory element can be retractably housed in its respective seat in a first configuration, allowing insertion of the nail into the bone, and can project from a sleeve opening in another configuration. Proximal and distal pairs of the elements are provided at the proximal and distal rod ends. The proximal element pair lie on a same plane and are kept in their seats by a proximal cover. The distal element pair lie on an offset plane to the plane of the proximal element pair and are kept in their seats by a distal cover. This removes the need for bone screws to stabilize the nail inside the medullary canal.
