There is provided a method for an apparatus for a location service, the method comprising: receiving, from a network function, a location request to determine a location of a terminal, the location request comprising a first indication of a first area: determining whether the terminal is inside or outside of the first area; and sending, to the network function, a second indication of whether the terminal is inside or outside of the first area.

Apparatus, methods, and computer programs

According to certain embodiments, a terminal device may receive location service user plane (LCUP) assistance information in a control plane (CP) positioning protocol signaling. The LCUP assistance information includes at least one of addressing information of an LCUP function instance, and security information for establishing an user plane (UP) session between the terminal device and the LCUP function instance. The LCUP function instance is associated with a location management function (LMF) selected for serving the terminal device. The terminal device can establish a secured UP connection between the terminal device and the LCUP function instance using the LCUP assistance information so as to perform a UP positioning operation using the LCUP function instance. The terminal device can ensure the UE establishes a secured connection with the LCUP associated with the serving LMF, thereby CP location operation through the UP interaction between the terminal device and the LUCP associated with LMF.

Location service enhancement based on usage of an user plane interface with a terminal device

There is provided a solution for detecting and filtering inaccurate measurement results used for positioning a mobile device. A method comprises as performed by an apparatus: determining locations of a plurality of fixed positioning nodes; receiving a measurement report from a mobile device, the measurement report comprising a plurality of measurement values measured by the mobile device, wherein each measurement value comprises a reference signal time difference indicating a radio propagation time difference between the mobile device and two different positioning nodes; determining, on the basis of threshold comparison, that at least one of the plurality of measurement values is associated with an inaccurate measurement; modifying, autonomously by the apparatus, said at least one of the plurality of measurement values; and computing a location of the mobile device on the basis of a plurality of measurement values resulting from said modifying.
