Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed to map a virtual environment to a physical environment using a weighted linear mapping technique. Example methods disclosed herein include accessing dimensional data corresponding to the virtual environment. Disclosed example methods further include determining areas of relative importance in the virtual environment. Disclosed example methods also include accessing dimensional data corresponding to the physical environment and generating a mapped environment based on the dimensional data corresponding to the virtual environment, the dimensional data corresponding to the physical environment, and the areas of relative importance.

Methods and apparatus to map a virtual environment to a physical environment

Embodiments include apparatuses, methods, and systems including a computer assisted system of lighting control for a computer assisted vehicle that may adjust a lighting device of the vehicle to emit lights with different characteristics in real time depending on the environment and the surroundings of the vehicle. A computer assisted system of lighting control for a computer assisted vehicle may adjust a lighting device on the vehicle based on a driver's preference about the light for driving, a light received by a sensor on the vehicle from a non-natural light source external to the vehicle, or an instruction received by a receiver on the vehicle from a sender external to the vehicle. The computer assisted system of lighting control for a computer assisted vehicle may also transmit an information or instruction to adjust a non-natural light source external to the vehicle.

An apparatus and method for depth retargeting in a virtual reality (VR) system color buffer compression. For example, one embodiment of a method comprises: dividing a virtual screen region into a plurality of smaller regions based on characteristics of a target screen; performing depth retargeting individually for each of the smaller regions including identifying a first set of the smaller regions on which to employ a first depth retargeting technique and a second set of the smaller regions on which to employ a second depth retargeting technique; wherein the first depth retargeting technique comprises subdividing one or more of the smaller regions from the first set into a plurality of sub-regions and performing depth retargeting individually on the sub-regions; combining results of the first depth retargeting technique and the second depth retargeting technique to render the virtual screen region.

Method and apparatus for virtual reality depth retargeting

An apparatus for processing a stereo three dimensional video includes a memory to store an encoded stereo three dimensional (S3D) video frame of the stereo three dimensional video, where the S3D video frame comprising a left frame, right frame, and depth frame. The apparatus may include a processor to retrieve a pixel (x,y) of the depth frame, the pixel (x,y) comprising a reference device depth(x,y). The apparatus may also include a device aware decoder component to determine pixel pair positions for a left pixel in the left frame and right pixel in the right frame based upon the pixel (x,y), and to calculate a target device disparity for the pixel (x,y), based upon the reference device depth(x,y) and a screen size of a target device to present the S3D video.
