An absorbent article () having an absorbent core comprising at least about 80% of superabsorbent polymers (SAP) by weight of its absorbent material. An acquisition-distribution system (ADS) () is at least partially disposed between the absorbent core and the topsheet. The ADS extends in the longitudinal direction of the absorbent article at least from a point A1 disposed at a distance D from the front edge to a point A2 disposed at a distance D from the back edge of the article, D being equal to 32% of the length L of the article. The ADS has a basis weight which may be at least 20% lower at the point A2 than at the point A1.

A disposable diaper is disclosed. The diaper includes a colored topsheet. The topsheet has a basis weight of from 12 to 18 gsm and comprises a plurality of bonded points. Each of the bonded points has a surface area of from 2 mmto 5 mmand the cumulated surface area of the plurality of bonded points is from 10 to 25% of the total surface area of the topsheet.

An acquisition member for use in disposable absorbent articles. The acquisition member including a multitude of fibers and a latex binder and having a void volume of at least 7 cubic centimeter per gram in the temperature range from 20&#xb0; C. to 40&#xb0; C. The latex binder may be a dispersion of a polymer in an essentially aqueous medium. The polymer is capable of forming a film having a tan &#x3b4; value at 40&#xb0; C. that is not greater than its tan &#x3b4; value at 20&#xb0; C.

Diaper providing temperature insensitive liquid handling

The present invention relates to absorbent articles, such as diapers and sanitary napkins, and acquisition members useful for such articles. More specifically, the invention relates to an acquisition member comprising a multitude of fibers and a latex binder, the liquid acquisition member having a void volume of at least 7 cubic centimeter per gram in the temperature range from 20&#xb0; C. to 40&#xb0; C., the binder comprising a dispersion of a polymer substance in an essentially aqueous medium, the polymer substance being capable of forming a film, said film having a tan &#x3b4; value, as defined herein, at 20&#xb0; C. and at 40&#xb0; C., wherein the tan &#x3b4; value at 40&#xb0; C. is not greater than said tan &#x3b4; value at 20&#xb0; C.

A liquid acquisition layer having a multitude of fibers and a binder is useful in a variety of absorbent articles, such as diapers and sanitary napkins. The liquid acquisition layer has a caliper which decreases in response to external pressure and increases upon removal of said external pressure. The increase in caliper is measured by a recovery value, wherein the liquid acquisition layer recovery value at 45&#xb0; C. is at least 65% of the recovery value at 20&#xb0; C.

Acquisition members having 20 to 40 weight percent of a latex binder and 60 to 80 weight percent of polyester fibers are useful in absorbent articles such as diapers and sanitary napkins. The polyester fibers may further include 20 to 80 weight percent of a first type of fiber, and 20 to 80 weight percent of a second type of fiber, wherein the second type of fiber has spiral-crimped fibers.
