The invention relates to an arc welding method using a consumable welding wire (), wherein in successive welding cycles (SZ) during a welding process (P) a certain welding current (I(t)) is applied to the welding wire () and the welding wire is moved with a certain wire conveying speed (v(t)) towards a workpiece () to be processed. The aim of the invention is to further improve the stability of the welding method. The aim is achieved, according to the invention, in that in the event of a change of the welding process (P) to a welding process (P) with an increased mean wire conveying speed (v) during a welding cycle (SZ) and/or with an increased mean welding current (I) during a welding cycle (SZ), a lowering phase (AP) is initiated, wherein in the lowering phase (AP) the welding current (I(t)) is lowered for a specified duration (Δt).

In a method and a carrier gas nozzle for allowing at least one fluid to flow over a welding area of a workpiece along a welding path during a welding process, the at least one fluid is flowed onto the welding area via at least one inlet and channels having openings. In a method for scanning the surface of metallic workpieces, during scanning, a welding torch with a consumable welding wire is moved over and towards the workpiece surface, until contact of the welding wire with the workpiece is detected, and the welding wire is subsequently moved away from the workpiece. Method for scanning the surface of metal workpieces and method for carrying out a welding process

A short circuit welding method with successive welding cycles with a respective arc phase and short circuit phase includes controlling at least the welding parameters welding current and feed speed of a melting electrode and feeding the electrode toward of a workpiece at a predetermined forward final speed at least during part of the arc phase and away from the workpiece at a predetermined rearward final speed at least during part of the short circuit phase. A device carries out this method. A change in the feed speed and a rearward final speed are predetermined and a welding current is controlled to complete the short circuit phase after reaching the rearward final speed and after 3 ms at the latest and repeat every 8 ms at the latest. The welding parameters are controlled such that the welding cycle duration&#x2264;8 ms, resulting in a welding frequency&#x2265;125 Hz.
