A fastener probe assembly includes a disc configured to rotate about a first axis of a fastener, an ultrasound probe coupled to the disc, and an encoder configured to determine an orientation of the ultrasound probe relative to the first axis of the fastener during an inspection of the fastener. The ultrasound probe is configured to interface with an axial end of the fastener, to emit ultrasound signals into the axial end of the fastener, and to receive ultrasound signals from the fastener.

System and method for inspecting fasteners

An insertion tool can include: a housing having proximal and distal ends with a sealed chamber therebetween, the distal end having a flange configured to engage with a flange of a valve assembly coupled to a pressurized vessel to allow the sealed chamber to fluidly communicate with the pressurized vessel; a hollow inner shaft slidably disposed through a proximal opening in the proximal end of the housing, through the sealed chamber, and through a distal opening in the distal end of the housing such that the inner shaft is operable to be advanced distally into the valve assembly toward an interior portion of the pressurized vessel, the inner shaft having an inner lumen that is sealed from the sealed chamber of the outer housing and that is configured to receive an inspection tool therein; and an optically transparent member disposed at a distal end of the inner shaft.

A device and method for cleaning a surface using dry steam is disclosed. A dry steam wand is fitted with a custom nozzle that permits the dry steam to be angled to clean difficult to access surfaces of a gas turbine. The nozzle includes a slit that is configured to maintain sufficient temperature and pressure to effectively remove contaminants found on gas turbines.

A system is provided having a probe assembly configured to inspect components of an assembled flange connection when the probe assembly is disposed within a bore of the components. The probe assembly includes a shaft configured to be aligned with an axis of the assembled flange connection, one or more ultrasound probes coupled to the shaft, and one or more encoders. The one or more ultrasound probes are configured to interface with an interior surface of the bore of the components, to emit ultrasound signals into the components, and to receive ultrasound signals from the components. The one or more encoders are coupled to the shaft and are configured to determine a position of the one or more ultrasound probes relative to a reference point of the assembled flange connection during an inspection of components of the assembled flange connection.

System and method for inspecting flange connections

Methods and devices are provided for detecting, corrosion and cracks in fastener nuts. In an exemplary embodiment, an apparatus can be configured to couple to a fastener nut to facilitate inspection of the fastener nut for detection of flaws in the fastener nut, such as corrosion and cracks. The apparatus can be configured to couple to the fastener nut when the fastener nut is mounted on a fastener and in use in a larger system such as a subsea drilling apparatus or other system in which fasteners with fastener nuts attached thereto are used. The apparatus can include an ultrasonic probe configured to facilitate inspection of the fastener nut using ultrasonic waves.

Corrosion and crack detection for fastener nuts

A system includes a vessel floating on a body of water. The system also includes at least one conduit extending from the vessel to below the body of water. The system also includes a scanning device disposed within the at least one conduit. The scanning device includes at least one two-dimensional (2D) line scanner and a rotary encoder coupled to the at least one 2D line scanner. The scanning device is configured to generate three-dimensional (3D) image data of a surface of the at least one conduit or at least one component disposed within the at least one conduit.

System and method for surface inspection

A system includes a probe assembly configured to inspect components of an assembled flange connection when the probe assembly is disposed within a bore of the components. The probe assembly includes a shaft configured to be aligned with an axis of the assembled flange connection, one or more ultrasound probes coupled to the shaft, and one or more encoders. The one or more ultrasound probes are configured to interface with an interior surface of the bore of the components, to emit ultrasound signals into the components, and to receive ultrasound signals from the components. The one or more encoders are coupled to the shaft and are configured to determine a position of the one or more ultrasound probes relative to a reference point of the assembled flange connection during an inspection of components of the assembled flange connection.

Methods and systems for in situ cleaning of internal cooling circuits of a turbine engine with detergent that provide cleaning a turbine engine that includes circumferentially arranged internal impingement cooling circuits that each include a baffle plate configured to air cool a respective surface or component of the turbine engine. Detergent is introduced through the outer wall and proximate to a back side of a baffle plate such that the detergent passes through at least one aperture in the baffle plate and acts at least upon the surface or component that the baffle plate is configured to cool. The detergent may also act on the front side of the baffle plate that is proximate to the surface or component.

Detergent delivery methods and systems for turbine engines

An optical system for inspecting an area includes an optical housing and an optical element housed within the optical housing. The optical housing houses one or more optical fibers. The optical element housed within the optical housing focuses light onto the one or more optical fibers. A sealing member seals the optical element with respect to the optical housing. The sealing member includes a solidified glass frit material. In one example, the sealing member is disposed annularly between the optical housing and the optical element. A method of forming the optical system is also provided.
