A motor vehicle body for light weight construction comprises at least a bottom unit, a roof and side units (), which are assembled to form at least part of the motor vehicle body. At least the side units include an inner shell element () and an outer shell element () made of injection molded plastics material and are attached to each other by attachment areas () to form a torsion stiff box structure. The inner and/or outer shell element may comprise a strut structure () extending from an inner shell element surface in between the shell elements towards the opposing shell element to realize the torsion stiff box structure.
