A stitcher () for connecting an end portion of an outgoing metal strip to a starting portion of an incoming metal strip for a continuously operated strip processing system comprises a first punching tool (), which is designed to connect metal strips having a first thickness range and/or strength range to one another, and a second punching tool (), which is designed to connect metal strips having a second thickness range and/or strength range to one another. Both thickness ranges and/or strength ranges are different from one another.

The invention relates to a method of connecting of strips to an endless strip with a clamping arrangement () with a clamping device (-r,-r) on the inlet side and a clamping device (--) on the outlet side, a cutting arrangement () with an upper cutter () and a lower cutter () and with a joining arrangement, wherein in a first step the clamping devices are opened and two strip ends are introduced, and in a subsequent step in the next step the strip ends are introduced, and in a subsequent step in the next step the strip ends are cut by means of the cutting arrangement, before they are moved into a joining position and are joined there.

Method of connecting strips

The invention relates to a device () for the connecting of strips to an endless strip with a clamping arrangement () with a clamping device (--) on the inlet side and a clamping device (--) on the outlet side, a cutting arrangement () with an upper cutter () and a lower cutter () and with a joining arrangement, in which at least the clamping device (--) on the inlet side and/or the clamping device (--) on the outlet side is constructed as a premountable unit.
