A prognostic and health monitoring system for a device with a rotating component is provided. The system includes a plurality of sensors. Each sensor is configured to sense a parameter of the device. A controller is in communication output sensor signals. The controller, based on instructions stored in a memory, is configured to filter the output sensor signals based on operational speed data of the rotating component to obtain normalized sensor data, construct multivariate gaussian distribution parameters from the normalized sensor data using a central limit theorem, compare a model generated with a learning algorithm applied to previous constructed multivariate gaussian distribution parameters with the constructed multivariate gaussian distribution parameters, and determine a state of the device based at least in part on the comparison of model with the constructed multivariate gaussian distribution parameters. A communication system communicates the determined state of the device to a remote location.

Prognostic and health monitoring system for a device with a rotating component

In some examples, a system includes a magnet configured to move in response to a movement of a wear pin indicator of a brake assembly of a vehicle; and a sensor configured to generate position data corresponding to the magnet, the position data indicating a relative linear position of the wear pin indicator, wherein the position data corresponds to an estimated remaining useful lifespan of the brake assembly. Additionally, the system includes an energy harvesting device configured to generate an electrical signal based on an operation of one or both of the brake assembly and the vehicle, wherein the energy harvesting device is configured to deliver at least a portion of the electrical signal to the sensor.

Sensing and analyzing brake wear data

A system includes a first levitation magnet. The system also includes a suspension magnet configured underneath the first levitation magnet. The suspension magnet oscillates continuously. Magnetic flux cuts across electrical coil windings. Energy is generated as a result of the magnetic flux that cuts across the electrical coil windings. A second levitation magnet is positioned underneath the suspension magnet and first levitation magnet. The suspension magnet is configured to levitate between the first levitation magnet and the second levitation magnet.
