Electronic devices including touch circuits and method of operating the electronic devices are provided. An electronic device includes a display; a touch circuit configured to detect a touch put on the display; a processor; and a memory. The touch circuit is further configured to acquire touch sensing information representing the sensitivity levels of inputs to respective multiple nodes of the touch circuit, identify information associated with a user's ear touching the electronic device, on the basis of the touch sensing information; and transfer, to the processor, the information associated with the ear touching. The memory stores instructions, which when executed, cause the processor to control the display to an on-state and to control the display to switch the display from the on-state to an off-state based on the information associated with the ear touching, which is obtained from the touch circuit.

According to an embodiment, an electronic device may include: a processor; and a touch circuit configured to output, to the processor, information associated with a touch on at least one surface of the electronic device. The touch circuit may be configured to: generate first raw data including a first value associated with capacitance for each of multiple channels of the touch circuit; generate a first baseline on the basis of the first raw data; identify whether the first raw data satisfies a designated condition; and identify whether the first baseline is reset, on the basis of whether the raw data satisfies the designated condition.

According to various embodiments of the present invention, an electronic device comprises a display panel including a touch sensor, and a processor, wherein the processor can be configured to: acquire a user input inputted in a designated area of the display panel through the touch sensor; identify a pattern corresponding to the form of the user input; perform a designated operation based on the user input when the pattern corresponds to a first designated condition; check the time during which the user input is maintained with respect to the designated area when the pattern corresponds to a second designated condition; determine the designated area as an ineffective input area on the basis of checking for whether the time corresponds to a designated time range; and ignore the user input inputted through the ineffective input area, or another input related to the user input. In addition to the various embodiments disclosed in the present invention, other various embodiments are possible.
