In described embodiments, a device and method for diagnosing brain and neurological issues is provided. The device measures the performance of Convergence, Divergence, and binocular tracking capabilities of a subject's eyes, which can be used to determine whether a subject has experienced a brain or other neurological event.

A head protection device includes a head cradle portion and a force transfer/energy absorbing collar portion. The head cradle portion is spaced from adjacent and out of contact with the collar portion in normal operation and in contact with the collar portion upon impact of predetermined force, transferring the force and associated energy around the head cradle portion and dissipating the energy.

A card holder (10) for a card (11), such as a PCB, includes a bottom member (13) and a top cover (14) which easily snap together to enclose the card (11) therebetween. The bottom member (13) may be made from a precision hot-flow semi-solid aluminum forging operation, and the top cover (14) may be made as an aluminum stamping. The overall assembly of the card holder (10) has high mechanical strength and rigidity, and the top member (14) merely serves as a cover. A substantially complete EMI shielding is provided, and both members are hard anodized for electrical insulation. The card holder (10) is cost-effective, yet rugged and reliable, and the anodizing provides a pleasing product appearance. An injection molding operation is not necessary, and a separate plastic part is eliminated.

Card holder for computers and related equipment

A molded plastic circuit element such as connector (50) includes a housing (52) molded of plastic to be nonresilient and have a plurality of cavities (68) into which are inserted compliant spring portions (44) of compliant pin contacts (42), for self-retention therein by strong interference fit. The side walls of the cavities (68) are plated to a substantial thickness (70) of copper or the like equivalent to about one ounce. An assured electrical connection is formed by the compliant pin (42) with the plating material (70) without solder, the plating material remaining assuredly integral to define a gastight connection over long-term in-service use. The contacts (42) of the array can enable mating with a corresponding connector (18) while circuit paths (74) extend from the plated cavities (68) to another array of pads (90) to connect to a circuit element (20) and interconnect it with connector (18). Such a connector (110) can have two arrays of such pins in such cavities, to interconnect two circuit boards (12,20) with plated circuit paths (144) connecting associated cavities of the arrays.

An electrical connector (50) includes a molded plastic housing (52) including circuit paths (74,78,82) plated or coated on its surface and extending from rows of cavities (68) to another region to define one or more rows of contact pads (90,92,93,94) to be bonded and electrically joined to pads (36) of a daughter board (20) through a conductive material. The connector (50) is mountable to a daughter card (20) by mechanical fastening to establish electrical connections therewith without solder, by using conductive tape or conductive elastomeric material. A compliant spring end portion (44) of a contact (42) is inserted in each cavity (68) so that a pin contact section thereof extends outwardly from a mating face to mate with a socket contact of a connector (18) mounted on a mother board (12), and is electrically connected to contact pads (90,92,93,94) without solder.

Solderless surface-mount electrical connector

An active connector (110,160) including a first dielectric body (112,162) having an L shape and having two arrays of pin contacts having pin portions extending outwardly from mounting surfaces which intersect at a right angle for the connector to be disposed in the corner of circuit elements (12,20) also at right angles, with the pins connected to circuits of the circuit elements. The first dielectric body (112,162) includes conductive paths extending to aligned arrays of pads along the two edge surfaces (122,124) remote from the inside corner, the edge surfaces being coplanar defining a plane traversing the L shape. A second dielectric body (152,200) having a chip (24,24') thereon traverses the inside corner between the edge surfaces, so that contact means of the chip or of the second body connected to the chip contacts, are connected to corresponding pads on the angled edge surfaces of the first body (112,162) thus interconnecting and modifying the circuits of the two circuit elements (12,20) while being easily demountable and replaceable.

Active electrical connector

An electrical connector (10) having a cavity (13) for removably receiving a printed circuit board (18) and contact elements (14,16) electrically engaging the board (18) is disclosed. More particularly, the contact elements (14,16) are located on opposing walls (22,24) of the cavity (13) and have contact beams (82,94) that electrically engage conductive pads on the circuit board (18). Further, the contact elements (14,16) have posts (84) and leads (98) extending outwardly of the housing (12) for receiving and transmitting signals from electronic devices. A cover (20) covers the cavity (13) to retain and protect the circuit board (18) therein.
