Container

A composite container having a detachable liner and a method for making the container are provided according to the present invention. The method includes providing a tubular body ply formed of a paperboard material and adhering the liner ply using a standard adhesive applicator. The method also includes heating a heat-releasable adhesive disposed between the liner ply and the body ply such that the liner ply substantially releases from the body ply. The liner ply remains adhered to the opposed ends of the container, thus providing a free medial portion between the opposed ends that can move inwardly if a negative pressure is created within the sealed container, thus equalizing the pressure within the container with that outside the container.

Composite container having detachable liner and method for making container

A multi-ply composite container for consumer products with at least one region of weakened strength and method for manufacturing same is provided. The composite container includes a multi-ply composite tube having a tubular body ply, a liner ply adhered to the inner surface of the tubular body ply and a label ply adhered to the outer surface of the body ply. The composite container also includes at least one circumferential score line in the multi-ply composite tube through the label ply and the body ply. The container and method overcome limitations imposed by conventional composite containers by providing a composite container which provides for easy opening, better consumer access, resealability, storage for left over food product, and easier consumer recycling.

Multi-ply composite container with regions of weakened strength and method for manufacturing same

A cut-off apparatus for non-circular tubes includes an axially movable carriage supporting one or more cutter assemblies and a drive system for driving the carriage synchronously with an advancing tubes. The advancing tube is received over a cutting mandrel mounted for movement with the carriage. The one or more cutter assemblies are disposed within the mandrel and comprise radially movable knives that are extended outward so as to cut the tube from the inside. The knives are urged radially outwardly by a cam moved by a control rod disposed within the mandrel. A clamp assembly is mounted on the carriage radially outwardly of the tube aligned with a cutter assembly, and includes clamp members that move inwardly to clamp the tube from the outside to restrain the tube against radially outward movement when being cut. The carriage drive system includes a motor for driving the carriage, a controller connected with the motor, and a sensor for detecting advancement of the tube so that the controller can drive the carriage in synchronism with the tube.

Cut-off apparatus for non-circular tubes

A roll of flexible plastic film bags formed of a continuous strip of bags with transverse severance lines between the individual bags. The bags dispense in a forward direction from the roll with each following bag adhesively tacked to the roll with a resistance to release slightly greater than the resistance to release of the severance line for a stabilization of the roll as the leading bags are severed therefrom. The tack securing of each following bag is provided by the application of an adhesive to the inner face panel of each bag adjacent the mouth end thereof as the roll is being formed.

In a yarn tube having a yarn-supporting surface, a yarn-receiving pickup groove formed in the surface and extending circumferentially at least partially around the tube. The groove, specifically configured to accommodate both right hand and left hand yarn pickup, has a constant varying width along the length thereof, and either two widest sections or a common widest section capable of allowing 'dropping in' and orientation of the yarn from both the right and left. Constantly narrowing sections extend outward from the widest section or sections to a common narrowest section or point to insure proper snagging of the yarn, initially received within the wide section or sections, regardless of the direction of rotation of the tube or the thickness of the yarn. The entire groove is of constant depth with the constant varying width insuring an accommodation and proper gripping of the yarn over a wide denier range.

A system and method of providing electrostatic pick-up of yarn on a rotating carrier tube or the like involving provision and use of an electrostatic generator for the application of a static charge to the leading section of the yarn which is subsequently directed across a spindle mounted rotating carrier in a manner whereby the yarn is adhered to or picked up on the tube by electrostatic attraction, the continuous high speed rotation of the carrier effecting a quick positive achievement of multiple wraps of yarn about the carrier.
