Examples described herein provide wake-up of a network device. Examples include receiving, by a network interface of a first network device having a first Media Access Control (MAC) address, a request to wake-up a second network device having a second MAC address that is assigned to a same subnet as the first MAC address, and in response to the request, generating, by the first network device, a first wake-up frame having a destination address of the second MAC address and configured to cause the second network device to transition from operating in the first power mode to operating in the second power mode. Examples include transmitting, by the network interface of the first network device, the first wake-up frame to the second MAC address of the second network device.

Dynamic configuration of multiple radios of an access point is described. An example of an access point includes a processor; a memory; hardware filters; and a first set of radio chains and antennas, the access point including a first radio mode for operation as a single radio on a first channel to service a first BSS and a second radio mode for operation as a first radio on the first channel and a second radio on a second channel to perform an additional service, wherein the access point is to provide dynamic configuration of the radios including, upon determining that operation of the first channel to service the first BSS is not compatible with a particular hardware filter of the first radio, migrating the first BSS from the first radio to the second radio to service on the second channel, and providing the additional service on the first channel.

Dynamic configuration of multiple radios of an access point

Examples described herein provide network enabled control of a security device. Examples include determining that a client device is connected to a network, receiving a request from the client device to instruct a security device to perform an action, wherein the request comprises a key, authenticating the key received from the request, and based on the determination that the client device is authorized to connect to the network, and based on the authentication of the key, sending, by a network device, a signal to instruct the security device to perform the action.

An access point of a network configured to derive basic service set identifiers (BSSIDs). The access point determines a base media access control (MAC) address associated with an access point. The access point computes an offset for at least one radio of the access point. The access point determines a radio-specific MAC address for the at least one radio of the access point by incrementing the base MAC address by the offset. The access point then derives a plurality of BSSIDs for the at least one radio of the access point based on the radio-specific MAC address. In some cases, the access point determines a radio from which a BSSID is provided based on the BSSID.

Derivation of basic service set identifiers for access points

Examples of block acknowledgement negotiations are described. In an example, a request to establish a BA session is sent by a first computing device (first device) to a second computing device (second device). A timer for receipt of a response to the request is initialized. A BA successful response is received by the first device after the timer has timed out. A request to terminate the BA session is sent by the first device to the second device. After sending the request to terminate the BA session, BA negotiation is reinitiated by the first device based on an updated inactivity timer, so that there are greater chances of successfully establishing a BA session. In an example, if the second device ignores the request to terminate the BA session then it sends a BA reject response to the first device. After receiving the BA reject response, the first device waits for the inactivity timer before reinitiating BA negotiations, so that the second device clears its states thereby increasing chances of successful BA renegotiations.

Example implementations relate to partitioning a radio into chains to scan channels. In some examples, a network device may comprise a processing resource and a memory resource storing machine-readable instructions to partition a default radio of the network device into a service chain and a scan chain in response to a scan request, scan a particular channel with the scan chain to discover devices operating on the particular channel of a network, and combine the service chain and the scan chain into the default radio.

A collocated device functioning as a configurator can use short and long button activations to enter a configuration state, open a timing window, and force client devices currently joined to a network to rejoin the network. If the collocated device functioning as a configurator is unconfigured, a short (or long) button activation can initiate a configuration sequence. A short button activation on that same collocated device, once configured, can cause the device to open a configurator timing window, during which one or more devices can be provided the information necessary to securely communicate on a network. A long (or short) button activation can be used to force all currently connected client devices, or rejoin the network using a new Service Set Identifier (SSID) or passphrase.

Aspects of a method and system for improved communication network setup utilizing extended terminals are presented. Aspects of the method may comprise configuring a wireless Ethernet terminal functioning as a client station by a configurator via a network. The configured wireless Ethernet terminal may wirelessly receives information from a wireless station, and communicate the wirelessly received information to at least one of a plurality of wired stations via at least one of a plurality of corresponding wired interfaces. Aspects of the system may comprise a collocated device functioning as a configurator that configures a wireless Ethernet terminal functioning as a client station via a network. The configured wireless Ethernet terminal may wirelessly receives information from a wireless station, and communicate the wirelessly received information to at least one of a plurality of wired stations via at least one of a plurality of corresponding wired interfaces.

Certain aspects of a method for enabling exchange of information in a secure communication system may comprise configuring at least one 802.11 client station via authentication enablement information comprising data that specifies a time period during which configuration is allowed. The data that specifies a time period during which configuration is allowed may comprise a configuration window open field, which indicates a period when a configuration setup window is open. At least one client station may be configured via the authentication enablement information comprising recently configured data, which indicates whether at least one configurator has configured at least one other client station within the time period during which the configuration is allowed.

In a communication network, an architecture for supporting secure communication network setup in a wireless local area network (WLAN) is provided. The architecture may be utilized in a configurator station or in a client station for establishing a secure communication setup between the client station and the corresponding WLAN. The architecture may comprise an input interface that may be configured by a user to interface with the user's hardware or software configuration buttons. The architecture may also comprise a finite state machine (FSM), a packet processor, and a Diffie-Hellman (DH) generator. The input interface, the FSM, the packet processor, and the DH generator may be associated with the secure communication setup process. The architecture may also comprise interfaces to communicate with a wireless driver and/or an Ethernet driver, and interfaces to communicate with persistent storage, such as non-volatile ready access memory (NVRAM).

Aspects of a method and system for transporting configuration messages across a DS in a WLAN are presented. Aspects of a method for enabling communication of information in a secure communication system may comprise configuring a wireless client station located in a client network based on configuration information received from a configurator. The configurator is located in a configurator network that is located external to and communicatively coupled to the client network. Aspects of a system for enabling communication of information in a secure communication system may comprise a configurator located in a configurator network that is located external to and communicatively coupled to a client network. The configurator configures a wireless client station located in the client network based on configuration information transmitted by the configurator to the wireless client station.

Method and system for transporting configuration protocol messages across a distribution system (DS) in a wireless local area network (WLAN)

Aspects of a method and system for distribution of configuration information among access points (AP) in a WLAN across a distribution system (DS) are presented. An AP, performing in a role of an AP-configurator may configure another AP, performing in a role of AP-client. The AP-configurator may distribute configurator configuration information to the AP-client. A configured AP-client may adopt a role of AP-configurator to configure a subsequent AP-client. An AP-configurator, or configured AP-client may subsequently configure a client station. The AP-configurator or configured AP-client may distribute configuration information to the client station. The configuration information may be based on previously distributed configurator configuration information. The method may enable client stations to be configured based on common configuration information that may be derived from configurator configuration information that was distributed by an AP-configurator. The client stations configured based on the common configuration information may communicate information in a secure network.

Method and system for distribution of configuration information among access points in a wireless local area network (WLAN) across a distribution system (DS)

In a communication network, a method and system for confirming secure communication network setup in a wireless local area network (WLAN) are provided. After a secure communication configuration is completed in a wireless network between a configurator station and a client station, a test exchange operation may be utilized during a configurator registration window to verify or validate the successful exchange of the SSID and passphrase to the client station. In this regard, the test exchange verifies the ability of the client station to connect to the corresponding WLAN. The test exchange may comprise an IEEE 802.11 or WLAN exchange phase, a Wi-Fi protected access (WPA) exchange phase, and a secure configuration protocol echo exchange phase. The WLAN and WPA exchanges may be utilized to enable a WPA joining of the client station while the secure configuration protocol echo exchange may be utilized to provide further authentication support.
