A wireless access node to facilitate voice over long term evolution (VoLTE) communication sessions comprises a wireless communication transceiver and a processing system. The wireless communication transceiver is configured to exchange VoLTE packets with a wireless communication device during a VoLTE communication session, and receive a scheduling request and responsively issue a scheduling grant with a number of hybrid automatic repeat requests (HARQs). The processing system is configured to calculate a quality of service (QoS) score based on a communication quality of the VoLTE communication session after issuing the scheduling grant, and if the QoS score falls below a threshold value, apply a lower level of fragmentation to the VoLTE packets.

Packet fragmentation for VoLTE communication sessions

A wireless communication device uses an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex (OFDM) resource block structure. The wireless communication device generates and stores data for wireless transmission. The wireless communication device translates an identifier and a current time into one or more OFDM resource blocks that are reserved for use without base station scheduling. The wireless communication device generates one or more authorization marks. The wireless communication device wirelessly transmits the data and the one or more authorization marks in the one or more OFDM resource blocks that are reserved for use without base station scheduling.

Resource block structure and control in a wireless OFDM communication system

A Long Term Evolution (LTE) Serving Gateway (S-GW) to indicate mode transitions of a wireless communication device comprises a communication transceiver and a processing system. The communication transceiver is configured to establish a default bearer between the LTE S-GW and an LTE Packet Data Network Gateway (P-GW) for the wireless communication device, establish a bearer channel between an LTE access node and the LTE S-GW, and exchange data over the bearer channel responsive to the wireless communication device entering an active mode. The processing system is configured to release the bearer channel between the LTE access node and the LTE S-GW responsive to the wireless communication device entering an idle mode, generate mode transition records indicating idle-to-active mode transitions and indicating active-to-idle mode transitions of the wireless communication device, and direct the communication transceiver to transfer the mode transition records.

The ALS is capable of receiving an infrared signal or a visible light signal that may then be read to determine an end and a beginning, and parsed to extract the code. Disclosed herein is a method and corresponding system for managing inter-network set up of wireless communication service. For instance, a first RAN may manage inter-network set up of wireless communication service for a first UE that is currently served by a second RAN. One embodiment takes the form of a method. The method may involve in response to receiving a first signal from the second RAN, the first RAN directing each UE of a plurality of UEs to broadcast a respective beacon. And the method may involve in response to receiving a second signal from the second RAN, the first RAN causing a particular UE among the plurality of UEs to function as an intermediary for the first RAN to serve the first UE, and the first RAN serving the first UE with the particular UE functioning as the intermediary.

Managing inter-network set up of wireless communication service

A wireless base station schedules allocated resource blocks from an OFDM resource block structure to a UEs and holds unallocated resource blocks from the OFDM resource block structure for machines. The base station decodes wireless OFDM signals based on the OFDM resource block structure to obtain user data from the UEs using the allocated resource blocks and to obtain machine data from the machine devices using the unallocated resource blocks. The base station processes the machine data from the unallocated resource blocks to validate authorization marks in individual resource blocks. The base station transfers portions of the machine data having the valid authorization marks for delivery. The base station inhibits the transfer of machine data not having the valid authorization marks.

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for facilitating call continuity when transferring calls between mobile access networks to voice over internet protocol networks. The method includes recognizing availability of a voice over internet protocol network during a voice call established via a wireless access network. Thereafter, a data connection between a user device and the voice over internet protocol network is established. A transfer of the voice call from the wireless access network to the voice over internet protocol network is initiated by initiating a three-way call. Such a three-way call includes a first portion routed to a destination device via a public switch telephone network and a second portion routed to the user device via the voice over internet protocol network.

Facilitating call continuity when transferring calls between a mobile access network to a VoIP network

Disclosed is a method for providing satellite assistance data to facilitate determination of the location of a mobile station, particularly for instance a mobile station served by a femtocell. When a positioning server receives a request for the location of a mobile station, the positioning server will determine from the request the mobile station is served by a femtocell and that the positioning server should query a femtocell server for seed data, or the positioning server may otherwise determine from the request that the positioning server should query the femtocell server for seed data. The seed data would preferably be geographic coordinates of a femtocell with which the mobile station is registered. The positioning server may then use that seed data to facilitate obtaining satellite assistance data from a base station almanac, and the positioning serve may provide the satellite assistance data to the mobile station to facilitate location determination.

Method and apparatus for providing satellite assistance data

There is disclosed herein a method, system and computer software product for associating a location with a wireless modem, wherein the modem has a modem identifier and a registered address associated therewith and wherein the method comprises: receiving a communication transmitted by the modem wherein the communication includes the modem identifier; determining whether the base station first receiving the communication is located within a predetermined proximity of the registered address; associating with the communication a receiving base station identifier of the base station that first received the communication; associating with the registered address a registered address base station identifier associated therewith; and comparing the registered address base station identifier with the receiving base station identifier.
