A structural arrangement for a vehicle includes a vehicle frame including a first frame member and a second frame member coupled to the first frame member. The vehicle frame extends along a vehicle body axis. The vehicle frame includes a suspension component including a control arm, a bushing, a bolt coupling the suspension component to the second frame member, and a load member coupled to the first frame member at a first attachment point and coupled to the second frame member at a second attachment point. The load member extends generally longitudinally along the vehicle body axis. The suspension component is coupled to the second frame member at the second attachment point and is detachable from the second frame member upon application of a load to the vehicle due to an impact event.

A structural arrangement for a vehicle includes a vehicle frame including an upper front rail, a frame rail, and a front hinge pillar, the frame rail extending parallel to a vehicle body axis and the front hinge pillar extending perpendicular to the vehicle body axis, the frame rail including a pulley, a load deflection system including a load member coupled to the upper front rail at a first attachment point, coupled to the frame rail at a detachable attachment point, and coupled to the front hinge pillar at a non-detachable attachment point such that the cable member extends generally longitudinally along the frame rail. The load member passes around the pulley from the first attachment point to the detachable attachment point and defines a load path between the upper front rail and the front hinge pillar utilizing the strength the frame rail.

An engine cradle mounting an engine in a vehicle has left and right side members spaced laterally apart on opposite sides of the engine, a rear cross member having right and left ends attached respectively to the left and right side members, and a front cross member having left and right ends attached respectively to the left and right side members. Body mounts are provided on the left and right ends of the front cross member for bolting the cradle to the vehicle body. Left and right deflector devices are mounted on the cradle, and each includes an impact receiving member that projects outwardly from the cradle to receive an impact load, and a brace member that extends between the cradle and the impact receiving member to brace the impact receiving member and provide a load path transferring the impact load into the cradle.

A system for absorbing energy in a vehicle includes a pair of laterally spaced upper and lower side rails which extend along a longitudinal axis. The lower side rails are disposed below the upper side rails. An upper member extends transverse to the longitudinal axis and interconnects the upper side rails. A lower member extends transverse to the longitudinal axis and interconnects the lower side rails. The upper and lower members are each disposed to transmit energy from the upper and lower members through the respective upper and lower side rails. The upper and lower members are configured to simultaneously deform upon impact of the vehicle with an object and transfer a force generated from impacting the object to the upper and lower side rails, respectively.
