An article having a nanoporous membrane and a nanoporous graphene sheet layered on the nanoporous membrane. A method of: depositing a layer of a diblock copolymer onto a graphene sheet, and etching a minor phase of the diblock copolymer and a portion of the graphene in contact with the minor phase to form a nanoporous article having a nanoporous graphene sheet and a nanoporous layer of a polymer. A method of: depositing a hexaiodo-substituted macrocycle onto a substrate having a Ag(111) surface; coupling the macrocycle to form a nanoporous graphene sheet; layering the graphene sheet and substrate onto a nanoporous membrane with the graphene sheet in contact with the nanoporous membrane; and etching away the substrate.

Nanoporous graphene membranes

Disclosed herein is a cyclic peptide polymer. R, R, and Rare organic groups. Each Ris a covalent bond, methylene, ethylene, n-propylene, or n-butylene. Each X is &#x2014;NH&#x2014;, &#x2014;O&#x2014;, or &#x2014;O&#x2014;CO&#x2014;. The values m and n are nonnegative integers having a sum of at least 1. The value p is an integer greater than 1. The cyclic peptide polymer may be made by providing a first cyclic peptide monomer having a protecting group on the X group, covalently binding the &#x2014;CO&#x2014;OH group of the first cyclic peptide monomer to a solid support having a carboxylic acid-reactive group, converting the protecting group to &#x2014;XH, reacting the &#x2014;XH group with the &#x2014;CO&#x2014;OH group of an additional cyclic peptide monomer, optionally repeating the converting and reacting steps with further additional cyclic peptide monomers, and cleaving the cyclic peptide polymer from the solid support. 

Multifunction cyclic peptide polymer nanomaterials

Refractory metal ceramics and methods of making thereof

Peptide nanotube polymers and methods of making such are disclosed. The peptide nanotube polymers are comprised of alternating monomers of the first peptide ring and monomers of the second peptide ring covalently bonded to one another via a linker, and can be functionalized. The described peptide nanotube polymers can enjoy the combined properties of healing and toughness, self-reporting, and tunability and actuation.

Methods for preparing linked peptide rings and peptide nanotubes obtained thereby

Disclosed herein is a composition having a thermoset polymer and a plurality of hollow microsphere homogenously dispersed in the composition. The polymer is a cyanate ester thermoset, a phthalonitrile thermoset, a crosslinked acetylene thermoset, or a hydrosilation thermoset. Also disclosed herein is a method of: providing a thermosetting compound; adding microspheres to the thermosetting compound; and mixing the thermosetting compound while initiating crosslinking of the thermosetting compound.

A polymer made by a hydrosilation reaction of a polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane having pendant siloxane groups with an acetylene- and silicon-containing compound having at least two vinyl or ethynyl groups, and a crosslinked polymer thereof. The reaction occurs between the pendant siloxane groups and the vinyl or ethynyl groups.
