Techniques are provided for obtaining round trip timing (RTT) measurements using orthogonal frequency-division multiple access procedures. An example method for determining distances to a plurality of stations includes receiving a respective first measurement frame from each of the plurality of stations, wherein the first measurement frame from each of the plurality of stations is transmitted simultaneously, transmitting a single multi-station block acknowledgment frame to the plurality of stations, receiving a respective second measurement frame from each of the plurality of stations, wherein the second measurement frame from each of the plurality of stations is transmitted simultaneously, and determining a respective distance to each of the plurality of stations based at least in part on the first measurement frame and the second measurement frame from at least some of the plurality of stations.

Round trip time using orthogonal frequency-division multiple access procedure

Measurements from a plurality of Access Points (APs) may be used to determine that at least one AP in the plurality is mobile. Measurements from APs determined to be mobile may be excluded when determining a User Equipment (UE) location. Disclosed embodiments also pertain to AP mobility characterization. AP mobility may be determined based on range rate measurements such as Round Trip Time measurements between the AP and UE; or a Doppler frequency shift relative to a nominal frequency used by the AP for transmissions. Based on range rate measurements, a probability of mobility may be assigned to APs. Information pertaining to APs that are determined to be stationary or associated with a low probability of mobility may be reported to a location server. Information pertaining to APs determined to be mobile or associated with a higher probability of mobility may not be reported to a location server.

Mobile access point detection

A method and apparatus for establishing a direct link between wireless stations (STAs) in a wireless network, as performed by an access point (AP). The AP monitors communications routed through the AP between a first STA and a second STA in the wireless network, and determines a quality of the communications routed through the AP. The AP selectively establishes a direct link between the first STA and the second STA based at least in part on the quality of the communications routed through the AP.

Methods, systems, and apparatuses for wireless communication are described at a device. A device may utilize telescopic discovery techniques to efficiently preserve a wireless connection until a previously connected device returns within range of the connection. In one example, the device may transmit a discovery request intended for the other device according to a first interval after determining the wireless connection. If a response is not received, the device may adjust the transmission interval to be a second interval. The device may then compare the second interval with a maximum interval to determine whether the second interval is greater than the maximum interval. If the second interval is less than the maximum the device may transmit a discovery request according to the second interval. Otherwise, the device may transmit discovery requests according to the maximum interval until a discovery response is received from the other device.
