A unitary apparatus combines the pneumatic switch and air control functions of separate conventional devices thereby eliminating the requirement to put two separate devices in a jetted whirlpool bath or spa. Two embodiments of the invention are disclosed herein. In each such embodiment, in addition to the pneumatic pump there is an air control body joined to a threaded body, the latter housing an air outlet and a push tube positioned concentrically within a rotatable face member. The push tube provides a button the depression of which activates the air pump using a pneumatic pulse. The face provides a means for controlling the whirlpool action generated at the output of a plurality of Venturi jets attached to the system. The face is substantially resistant to removal which would expose an easily removable plunger tube, tapered ring and other small members of the invention. This latter feature makes it necessary to fully depress the push tube before it becomes possible to disassemble the face from the remainder of the apparatus. In one embodiment the air pump is configured to permit its replacement from the interior of the tub without requiring access to the tub exterior.

Combined pneumatic switch and air control for use in whirpool baths

An electric water heater for heating a flow of pool or spa water includes an elongated metallic body of brass, bronze, aluminum or alloys thereof. A lengthwise elongated hollow in the body defines a water flow path having inlet and outlet openings directly communicating with the ends of the hollow. An electric resistance immersion heating element is positioned in the hollow between the inlet and outlet for heating a flow of water and is controlled by a heat sensing element, such as a thermostat, disposed in an opening in a thick body portion forming an elbow passage corner-turning the water flow path at one of the inlet and outlet openings. The thick body portion projects into the elbow passage and has a first face facing the opening and merging with a second face facing the elongated hollow at a convex locus extending widthwise across the elbow passage. The sensing element receiving opening extends widthwise of the convex locus. The thick body portion protects the sensing element from corrosion and erosion damage.

A light unit assembly adapted to illuminate liquid below a liquid surface (for example of a pool or spa) includes (a) a lamp unit including a metallic housing adapted to be cooled by heat transfer to the liquid, and lamp circuitry, (b) a thermostat coupled to the lamp circuitry to control electrical energization of the lamp, and (c) a heat conductive metallic strip associated with said housing and thermostat to become increasingly heated for changing the conductive state of the lamp in response to diminished cooling of the housing by said liquid.

Heat sensitive pool light

A boiler is disclosed having a horizontal heat exchanger in the form of hollow tubes positioned across the top of a combustion chamber. Vertical heat exchangers are also provided at either ends of the tubes. The vertical heat exchangers are in the form of hollow water reservoirs which extend vertically between the tubes and the burner to form two walls of the combustion chamber.
