A composition for treating keratin substances comprising selected amphoteric polysaccharide derivatives, preferably guar gum which contain a cationic group comprising an amino, ammonium, imino, sulfonium or phosphonium group and an anionic group comprising a carboxyl, sulfonate, sulfate, phosphate or phosphonate group.

Keratin treating cosmetic compositions containing amphoteric polysaccharide derivatives

A solid composition of matter comprising one or more polysaccharides which has a coarse particle size is provided. The composition demonstrates absorbent properties and is useful in absorbent articles of manufacture. Also provided is a method for preparing the compositions.

Process for producing polysaccharides and their use as absorbent

Nonionic and cationic derivatized guar gum which demonstrates greater than 75% light transmission at a wavelength of from about 500-600 nanometers when dispersed in water in the amount of 0.5 parts per 100 parts water and the process for producing such guar gum is disclosed. The compositions are particularly useful for producing products having utility in personal care and industrial cleaning products.

Derivatized guar gum composition including nonionic and cationic groups

A detergent composition useful for cleaning and/or conditioning human hair or skin or cleaning dishes or clothing which contains NaCl or NH.sub.4 Cl and further contains a nonionically and cationically derivatized polygalactomannan, the molecular substitution of the nonionic substituent being between about 0.4 and about 1.2 and the degree of substitution of the cationic substituent being between about 0.20 to about 1.0, said detergent composition having a viscosity of greater than about 500 centipoises and said composition having greater than 75% light transmission at a wavelength of from about 500-600 nanometers is provided. Also disclosed is the use of an amphoteric and nonionic substituted derivatized polygalactomannan for such uses.
