Catalyst system

A method of making a homogeneous mixture of polyolefin solids and liquid additive without melting the polyolefin solids during the making. The method comprises applying acoustic energy at a frequency of from 20 to 100 hertz to a heterogeneous mixture comprising the polyolefin solids and the liquid additive for a period of time sufficient to substantially intermix the polyolefin solids and the liquid additive together and while maintaining temperature of the heterogeneous mixture above the freezing point of the at least one liquid additive and below the melting temperature of the polyolefin solids, thereby making the homogeneous mixture without melting the polyolefin solids.

A method of making a homogeneous mixture of polyolefin solids and a particulate solid additive without melting the polyolefin solids or the particulate solid additive during the making. Articles made from a moisture-crosslinkable, polymeric composition comprising in weight percent based on the weight of the composition: (A) 10 to 99.99 wt % of a nonpolar ethylenic polymer grafted with silane functionality (Si-g-npPE), the npPE having the following properties before grafting: (1) a vinyl content of 0.2 to 0.7 per 1,000 carbon atoms, (2) a melt index of 1.5 to 7.0 dg/min, (3) a density of 0.913 to 0.965 g/cc, and (4) a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of equal to or less than 8; (B) 0.01 to 20 wt % of a silanol condensation catalyst; and (C) 0 to 70 wt % of a flame retardant additive; exhibit one or more of desirable (a) silane grafting efficiency; (b) hot creep performance as a cable jacket/insulation after moisture crosslinking; (c) retained dielectric strength after glancing impact as a moisture crosslinked cable construction; and (d) crush resistance as a moisture crosslinked cable construction.

Moisture-cured wire and cable constructions

The present disclosure provides a composition. The composition includes a silanol functionalized polyolefin; an anhydride-free brominated flame retardant; antimony trioxide; and the composition has an antimony (Sb) to bromine (Br) molar ratio (Sb:Br molar ratio) from 0.37 to 1.05. The present disclosure also provides a coated conductor. The coated conductor includes a conductor and a coating on the conductor, the coating including a composition. The composition includes a silanol functionalized polyolefin; an anhydride-free brominated flame retardant; antimony trioxide; and the composition has an antimony (Sb) to bromine (Br) molar ratio (Sb:Br molar ratio) from 0.37 to 1.05.

A composition having a) an ethylene-based copolymer made of units derived from ethylene and units derived from at least one comonomer of Structure I, wherein R is a C1-C2 hydrocarbyl group and R' is a C1-C4 hydrocarbyl group; b) at least one antioxidant; c) from greater than 0 wt % to less than 3 wt % of an organic peroxide, based on the total weight of the composition; d) optionally, at least one co-agent; and e) optionally, at least one tree retardant, wherein the ethylene-based copolymer has a melt temperature (Tm) (&#xb0; C.) and a comonomer content in moles per 100 grams ethylene-based copolymer (mol/100 g) (comonomer) that satisfies the relationship Tm&#x3c;&#x2212;73.022 (comonomer)+109.3.

The present disclosure is directed to a plasticizer composition, polymeric compositions containing the plasticizer composition, and coated conductors comprising the polymeric composition. The plasticizer composition comprises an epoxidized fatty acid alkyl ester having an APHA color value of less than 100, a triepoxide content of at least 6.5 weight percent, and an oxirane oxygen content of at least 5 grams oxirane per 100 grams of epoxidized fatty acid alkyl ester.

Plasticizer compositions and methods for making plasticizer compositions

The present disclosure is directed to a plasticizer, a polymeric composition containing the plasticizer, and conductors coated with the polymeric composition. The plasticizer includes a blend of an epoxidized soybean oil and a trans-esterified epoxidized fatty acid methyl ester. The trans-esterified epoxidized fatty acid methyl ester has an oxirane value greater than or equal to 6.8%. The plasticizer, the polymeric composition, and the coated conductor retain color during heat aging.

The present disclosure is directed to a plasticizer composition, polymeric compositions containing the plasticizer composition, and conductors coated with the polymeric composition. The plasticizer composition includes a first plasticizer comprising epoxidized fatty acid alkyl esters and a second plasticizer comprising an epoxidized natural oil. The plasticizer composition, first plasticizer, and/or second plasticizer can undergo one or more color-reducing treatment processes, such as distillation, filtration, and/or peroxide treatment.

The present disclosure is directed to a plasticizer, polymeric compositions containing the plasticizer, and conductors coated with the polymeric composition. The plasticizer includes (i) an epoxidized fatty acid methyl ester, (ii) an epoxidized natural oil, and (iii) an epoxidized tallate ester. Polymeric compositions containing a polymeric resin and the plasticizer exhibit a weight loss less than 50 mg/cmafter exposure to 100&#xb0; C. for seven days. Conductors coated with the polymeric composition (containing the plasticizer) pass the low temperature unwind test of UL719 and exhibit a weight loss less than 50 mg/cmafter exposure to 100&#xb0; C. for seven days.
