There is a viscoelastic fluid. The fluid has one or more cationic surfactants selected from the group consisting of certain quaternary salts, certain amines, and combinations thereof; one or more anionic polymers/anionic surfactants; one or more of certain zwitterionic/amphoteric surfactants; and water. There is also a method of fracturing a subterranean formation. The viscoelastic fluid is pumped through a wellbore and into a subterranean formation at a pressure sufficient to fracture the formation. There is also a method for gravel packing a subterranean formation.

Multicomponent viscoelastic surfactant fluid and method of using as a fracturing fluid

A method for viscosifying brine systems utilized in oilfield applications comprising: a) preparing a heavy brine system comprising obtaining an aqueous brine system comprising a hydrated polysaccharide and at least one multivalent salt, wherein the density of the aqueous brine system is greater than about 10 pounds per gallon (ppg), and adding an effective amount of an alkaline agent, thereby increasing the viscosity of the brine system. Also disclosed are methods for viscosifying brine systems utilized in well servicing applications comprising obtaining an aqueous brine solution comprising at least one multivalent salt, wherein the density of the aqueous brine system is greater than about 10 pounds per gallon (ppg); adding a polysaccharide; adding an effective amount of an acid buffering agent to the brine system to lower the pH of the brine system, whereby the polysaccharide is capable of substantially hydrating into the brine system; and adding an effective amount of an alkaline agent, thereby substantially increasing the viscosity of the brine system.

Methods and compositions for viscosifying heavy aqueous brines

Disclosed are processes relating to the production of polyglycerol ethers of fatty alcohols, in particular, one step process using fatty alcohol and glycerine to synthesize polyglycerides of fatty alcohols will provide a 100% renewable surfactant that is cost effective efficient and CMR free. The synthetic methods mentioned in prior art uses hazardous chemicals as glycidyl ethers, epichlorohydrin that are listed as CMR and known carcinogens and hazardous to handle.

Process for making polyglycerol ethers of fatty alcohols

A method for enhancing foam stability in foaming compositions for use in oilfield treatment application, including but not limited to use in mobility control for gas flooding. The method comprises the step of adding to a foaming composition a foam stabilizer of formula (I): wherein Ris an alkylamido group or a branched or linear alkyl group; Rand Rare individually hydrogen or a methyl group; R, Rand Rare individually hydrogen or a hydroxy group, with the proviso that at least one of R, Ror Ris a hydroxyl group; wherein the alkyl group has greater than about 10 carbon atoms. Also disclosed are methods to enhance foam stability in an aqueous foaming composition.

Enhanced foam stability applications and methods

A method for enhancing recovery of oil from an oil-bearing carbonate formation within a reservoir. The method has the steps of (a) introducing a viscous gel under pressure into the oil-bearing carbonate formation and (b) extracting oil. The aqueous viscous gel has water and an amount of a non-polymeric viscosifying surfactant sufficient to provide the flooding fluid with an oil/water interfacial surface tension of about 10 mN/m or less and a viscosity of about 10 cP or more of the one or more non-polymeric surfactants. The one or more non-polymeric, viscosifying surfactants is selected from the group of one or more cationic surfactants, one or more zwitterionic surfactants, one or more anionic surfactants, one or more amphoteric surfactants, and combinations thereof. In a preferred embodiment, the aqueous viscous gel is also substantially free of solids.

Method for mobility control in oil-bearing carbonate formations

An environmentally-friendly cleaning composition for industrial and consumer applications comprising (a) a blend of dibasic esters, (b) one or more surfactants (c) and, optionally, (d) water or a solvent. The dibasic esters are be derived from a blend of adipic, glutaric, and succinic diacids, and, in one particular embodiment, the blend comprises dialkyl adipate, dialkyl methylglutarate and dialkyl ethylsuccinate, wherein the alkyl groups individually comprise a C-Chydrocarbon group. The one or more surfactants are typically chosen from alcohol alkoxylate, an alkyl phenol ethoxylate, a terpene, a terpene alkoxylate or any derivates thereof. Optionally, additional components or additives including delaminates such as pinene and d-limonene, fragrances, whiteners, stabilizers, thickeners and the like can be added to the composition. The industrial or consumer application selected from the group consisting of a graffiti cleaner, a painted-substrate cleaner, an ink cleaner, a metal substrate cleaner, a plastic substrate cleaner, an environmentally friendly cleaner, a stain-spot cleaner, an industrial hand cleaner, a resin cleaner, a tar resin cleaner, a textile cleaner, a paint stripper and any combination thereof.

Cleaning compositions incorporating green solvents and methods for use

Demulsifiers containing an anionic surfactant selected from alkylsulfosuccinates, alkylsulfonates, alkylphosphonic acids, and their salts; a nonionic surfactant selected from ethylene oxide/propylene oxide copolymers, ethoxylated fatty acids of polyethylene glycol, terpene alkoxylates, and modified alkanolamides; or a combination of an anionic and a nonionic surfactant, and methods of use thereof in breaking emulsions.

Demulsifiers and methods for use in pharmaceutical applications

There is a method for enhancing the recovery of oil from a reservoir. The method has the step of a) introducing a flooding fluid into the reservoir and b) extracting the oil through a wellbore at a location different than the point of introduction of the flooding fluid into the reservoir. The flooding fluid has water and an amount of one or more non-polymeric viscoelastic surfactants sufficient to provide an interfacial surface tension of about 1 mNm or less and a viscosity of about 10 cps or more. The one or more surfactants is selected from the group of one or more cationic surfactants, one or more zwitterionic surfactants, one or more amphoteric surfactants, one or more anionic surfactants, and combinations thereof.

Methods for recovering oil from an oil reservoir

Demulsifiers containing an anionic surfactant selected from alkylsulfosuccinates, alkylphosphonic acids, and their salts; a nonionic surfactant selected from ethylene oxide/propylene oxide copolymers, ethoxylated fatty acids of polyethylene glycol, terpene alkoxylates, and modified alkanolamides; and solvent bases comprising blends of dibasic esters. Methods for breaking emulsions using such demulsifiers and solvent bases are also disclosed.
