The invention relates to a method and a device for optically measuring the interior of a seamless pipe which is manufactured by rolling or of a pipe which is welded with a longitudinal seam and is manufactured from sheet-metal plates shaped to form half-shells or from a shaped sheet-metal plate or from a metal strip which is unwound from a coil, comprising a sensor means () which emits a laser beam () in the interior of the pipe (). In such a method and device, an internal measurement of seamless pipes or pipes which are welded with a longitudinal seam is to be provided with which it is easily possible to determine and model precisely the ovalness and straightness of the pipe () in a station. For this purpose there is provision that the sensor means () is moved horizontally through the pipe (), wherein the internal contour () of the pipe () is measured in that a laser tracker () which is positioned at the end of the travel path follows, with its laser beam (), the respective position of the sensor means () in the space of the pipe () and senses deviations of the sensor means () from straightness.

Method and device for optically measuring the interior of a pipe

An apparatus for three-dimensionally imaging a pipe centered on and extending along an axis has supports for supporting the pipe by engagement with only an inside surface of the pipe such that an outer surface of the pipe is entirely exposed. A scanner is spacedly juxtaposed with and around the outer surface of the pipe. The scanner and the pipe can be relatively axially displaced such that the scanner passes along a full length of the pipe for scanning of the entire outer surface.
