The present invention relates to dental polymerizable composite materials (curable dental compositions) comprising one or more plasticizers comprising a tricyclic structural element, to dental materials (polymers), obtainable by curing from the dental polymerizable composite materials comprising one or more plasticizers comprising a tricyclic structural element, to processes for producing a dental material and to dental curable composite materials for use in a therapeutic method in the production of a dental material.

Novel polymerizable compounds comprising a polyalicyclic structure element and certain functional groups, mixtures comprising one or a plurality of these compounds and corresponding curable blends and products as well as their respective use as dental material or for the preparation of a dental material are described. A method for preparing these compounds or mixtures and a method for preparing a product, preferably a product suitable for dentistry, are also described.

Polymerizable compounds comprising a polyalicylic structure element

A composite material and method of making and using the same is described. In particular a dental (and preferably photocurable) composite material, and the use of a composite material according to the invention as a dental material and a method for preparation of a composite material according to the invention. Also disclosed are novel radically polymerizable monomers comprising at least one polyalicyclic structure element and certain ethylenic structure elements, which are particularly suitable for use in a composite material according to the invention.

Composite material comprising a monomer with a polyalicyclic structure element

A method for infiltration and/or sealing of hard tooth tissue and for detection of caries in the infiltrated region or under the seal by means of fluorescence, is described. The method includes applying a composition comprising a filler system consisting of or comprising inorganic filler particles surface-modified by means of organic structural elements, wherein the organic structural elements can be reacted with an organic binder system to form covalent bonds, wherein the filler particles of the composition have an average particle size in the range between 1 nm and 150 nm, and an organic binder system comprising one or more polymerizable monomers, wherein the filler system is dispersed in the organic binder system (b). The infiltrated or sealed surface of the hard tooth tissue is then irradiated with excitation radiation which causes emission of fluorescence radiation. The fluorescence radiation data is recorded and used to detect curies.

Compositions for infiltration and/or sealing of hard tooth tissue and corresponding methods

A curable dental composition comprising a monomer with a polyalicyclic structure element that can be used for filling and/or sealing of a root canal is described. Also described is a composition useful as a dental material and a method for preparing such a composition. New polymerizable monomers comprising at least one polyalicyclic structure element and certain ethylenic structure elements, which are particularly suitable for use in a dental composition, and the use of the new monomers in a dental composition are also described.

Certain novel polymerizable phosphoric acid derivatives (hereinafter referred to as monomers) comprising a polyalicyclic structure element, mixtures comprising one or a plurality of these compounds and corresponding curable blends and products as well as their respective use as a dental material or for the preparation of a dental material are described. The application of certain (preferably photocurable) composite materials comprising a monomer with a polyalicyclic structure element as a dental sealing material is described herein. A description is also provided of novel polymerizable monomers comprising at least one polyalicyclic structure element and certain ethylenic structure elements, which are particularly suitable for use in a composite material to be applied and their application in a composite material.
