The invention relates to a wound heat exchanger having a core tube extending along a longitudinal axis in an axial direction and having a tube bundle, which has a plurality of tubes for conducting a first fluid, wherein the tubes are wound about the core tube in a plurality of windings, the tubes being arranged in a radial direction perpendicular to the axial direction in a plurality of tube layers, adjacent windings of at least one tube layer having different axial distances in the axial direction and/or tube layers adjacent in the radial direction having different radial distances from each other in a cross-sectional plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The invention further relates to a method for producing a wound heat exchanger and to a method for transferring heat between a first fluid and a second fluid by means of the heat exchanger.

A heat exchanger includes a core tube extending in a shell space, several tubes wound around the core tube, and a liquid distributor. The liquid distributor is arranged above the tubes in the shell space and applies a liquid phase of a first medium to the tubes. The liquid distributor has distributor arms projecting in the radial direction from the core tube, an annular channel extending above the distributor arms in a circumferential direction of the shell and a collector tank formed by the core tube. The annular channel and the collector tank are each designed to collect the first medium. The distributor arms form at least one first container and at least one second container separated from the first container.

The invention relates to a method for determining the state of a heat exchanger device () that comprises means for transferring heat with the aid of at least one process stream. Helically coiled heat exchanger for the indirect exchange of heat between a two-phase first medium and a second medium has a shell surrounding a shell space, which extends along a longitudinal axis, an inlet for the admission of the two-phase first medium into the shell space, a tube bundle arranged in the shell space and having multiple helically coiled tubes for accommodating the second medium and a separating device for separating a gaseous phase from a liquid phase. The separating device has a tray arranged above the tube bundle which serves for collecting the liquid phase. The tray has a plurality of chimneys for separating the two phases. Each chimney projects from the tray from a side of the tray facing away from the tube bundle and is covered by a roof. An opening in the tray between the roof and an upper end of the respective chimney, there is provided an inlet opening via which the gaseous phase can flow into the respective chimney.

A heat exchanger, providing indirect heat transfer between a first fluid and at least one second fluid, comprises a jacket enclosing a jacket space for accommodating the first fluid and a tube bundle arranged in the jacket space and having a plurality of tubes for accommodating the at least one second fluid. The tubes form multiple tube layers. A shroud arranged in the jacket space encloses an outermost tube layer of the tube bundle. Spacers extending along the longitudinal axis are arranged between the shroud and the outermost tube layer. An interspace is present between any two spacers adjacent in the circumferential direction of the shroud, and between the shroud and the uppermost tube layer. A flow obstruction is arranged in the respective interspace and is designed to prevent or suppress a flow of the first fluid in the respective interspace, at least over a part section thereof.

A heat exchanger for indirect heat exchange between a first and a second medium is provided with a shell space for receiving the first medium, and a tube bundle arranged in the shell space and for receiving the second medium. The tubes are helically wound in a number of tube layers onto a core tube. The tube bundle includes a first tube layer which is positioned further outward in the radial direction of the tube bundle from an adjacent second tube layer. The heat exchanger includes at least one spacer and the first tube bundle is supported against the second tube bundle via the at least one spacer. The at least one spacer has a flow-directing region designed to deflect part of the first medium flowing along a tube of the first tube layer in the direction of the second tube layer situated further inwards in the radical direction.

Helically coiled heat exchanger

The invention relates to a heat exchanger system comprising a jacket extending along a longitudinal axis and surrounding a jacket space. A pipe bundle is arranged in the jacket space wherein pipes are wound helically around a central pipe. At least one pre-distributor container is arranged in the jacket space for accommodating and degassing a liquid-gas mixture and designed to coat a distributing means with liquid degassed in the at least one pre-distributor container. The distributing means is designed to deliver the liquid to the pipe bundle. At the top the jacket has an inlet which is aligned with the longitudinal axis and in fluid connection with the central pipe. The central pipe has at least one lateral opening so that the liquid-gas mixture can be fed via the inlet, the central pipe, and the at least one lateral opening into the at least one pre-distributor container.

A process for cooling a tube side stream in a main heat exchanger is described. The process comprises: a) supplying a first mass flow of a tube side stream to a first zone of individual tubes in the tube bundle; b) supplying a second mass flow of the tube side stream to a second zone of individual tubes in the tube bundle, the second zone being offset from the first zone; c) supplying a refrigerant stream on the shell side for cooling the first and second mass flows; d) removing the evaporated refrigerant stream from the warm end of the main heat exchanger; and, e) adjusting the first mass flow of the tube side stream relative to the second mass flow of the tube side stream to maximise the temperature of the removed evaporated refrigerant stream.

The invention relates to a method for controlling a temperature distribution in a heat exchanger, in which an actual temperature distribution in the heat exchanger is measured by means of at least one optical waveguide arranged in the heat exchanger, in particular in the form of a glass fiber, light being launched into the optical waveguide and light that is scattered in the optical waveguide being evaluated for determining the actual temperature distribution, and at least one flow of a fluid medium that is carried in the heat exchanger being controlled in such a way that the actual temperature distribution is made to approximate a pre-defined target temperature distribution. A process for liquefying a tube side stream in a main heat exchanger is described. The process comprises the steps of: a) providing a first mass flow to the warm end of a first subset of individual tubes, b) providing a second mass flow to the warm end of a second subset of individual tubes, c) evaporating a refrigerant stream on the shell side; d) measuring an exit temperature of the first mass flow; e) measuring an exit temperature of the second mass flow; and, f) comparing the exit temperature of the first mass flow measured in step d) to the exit temperature of the second mass flow measured in step e), the process characterized in that at least one of the first and second mass flows is adjusted to equalize the exit temperature of the first mass flow with the exit temperature of the second mass flow.
