A control system for a vehicle braking systems includes an electronic control system and a brake signal transmitter having at least one circuit actuatable by a driver of the vehicle. Each circuit of the brake signal transmitter transmits an electrical brake signal having a value which is dependent upon an actuating force and/or an actuating stroke supplied to the brake signal transmitter. The electronic control system emits at least one electrical brake actuating signal which is dependent upon the electrical brake signal transmitted by the brake signal transmitter. An electronics block which includes at least a portion of the electronic control system is provided. The brake signal transmitter and the electronics block are integrated into a combined component.

Control system for a vehicle braking system

This invention provides a method of and an apparatus for regulating an electrically regulated brake circuit of a multi-circuit brake mechanism. To eliminate the cost of brake pressure modulators, this invention measures the brake value of a pressure signal regulated brake circuit and transforms it into an electric brake value signal to regulate or co-regulate the electrically regulated brake circuit in a normal mode of operation by this brake value signal.

A process for braking a vehicle which comprises applying to a front axle group and to a rear axle group front axle brake pressure (p.sub.1) and rear axle brake pressure (p.sub.2) in accordance with wear-optimized curves when a deceleration command signal (S) is less than or equal to a predetermined switch-over deceleration command signal (S.sub.1). When the deceleration command signal (S) is greater than the switch-over deceleration command signal (S.sub.1), the front axle brake pressure (p.sub.1) and the rear axle brake pressure (p.sub.2) are applied in accordance with parabolas which pass smoothly through a point on the wear-optimized curves which corresponds to the switch-over deceleration command signal (S.sub.1), and at least one point on curves for equal adhesion utilization of the front axle group and the rear axle group, which point corresponds to a second deceleration command signal (S.sub.2).

Process for braking a vehicle

A brake system with at least one brake circuit comprises a mechanical brake-pressure control device and an electrical brake-pressure control device. The brake system is constructed without additional expenditure and by use of a mechanical brake-pressure control device and by an electrical control valve device. The system is constructed such that the brake-pressure modulator (8) of the electrical brake-pressure control device (6, 8, 11, 19) can also be controlled by pressure. The brake-pressure modulator (8) meters the brake pressure, both on the strength of the supplied electrical signal as well as according to the value level of the fed-in redundant brake pressure. The control electronics (11, 19) of the electrical brake-pressure control device (6, 8, 11, 19) is constructed such that it sets the strength of the electrical signal to a value required for covering and for meeting the respective brake-pressure demand request. A method for the surveillance of a brake device includes an indirect measurement of temperature of a selected device component, for example a brake drum, of a brake device. A warning signal is furnished, if this measured temperature reaches a maximum permissible value. The invention method is quick by employing the pressure-dependent deformation characterizing curve (11) of the device component heated to the permissible temperature. The device component represented by the brake drum (1) can heat to the maximum permissible temperature and is placed under surveillance during a brake actuation based on deformation and pressure measurement. It is then determined if the actual values reach or exceed the deformation characterizing curve (11). The invention apparatus is used in connection with brake devices in vehicles.

Method for the surveillance of a brake device in regard to overload

A known brake circuit comprises a mechanical brake-pressure control device and an electrical brake-pressure control device. The mechanical brake-pressure control device is furnished for assuring an emergency operation in case of a fault of the normally predominance-taking electrical brake-pressure control device. The known brake circuit can be controlled only then in a load-dependent way, when both the mechanical as well as the electrical brake-pressure control unit comprise a load-dependent automatic brake-pressure controller. The electrical brake-pressure control device (106 6, 9, 12, 13) is thereby accessible to a load-dependent automatic brake-pressure control without the requirement of a load dependent automatic brake-pressure controller in the mechanical brake-pressure control device (103 3, 5).

An overload warning system for a trailer brake cylinder of a trailer brake system having a nominal deceleration rate. It has been found that previous temperature sensing overdue warning systems have a disadvantage that undue delay occurs and that no warning signal is initiated until after damage to the trailer brakes occurs. The present invention proposes that the tractor brake system and the trailer brake system compare their received operating control signals from which they form a ratio factor and then produce a warning signal when the ratio factor changes beyond a predetermined critical change velocity. The present invention employs the rapid drop in braking force caused by a brake overload and uses the rapid drop and increase brake demand for readjusting the brake deceleration. The present invention is used for uniquely recognizing the 'Fading' effect of the trailer brake system.

The present invention provides a method of and an apparatus for regulating an electrically regulated brake circuit of a multi-circuit brake mechanism with pressure medium activated brakes. To decrease the expense of such multi-circuit brake mechanism, the invention transforms the pressure, modulated by the brake actuating mechanism, to an electrical signal and regulates or co-regulates the electrically regulated brake circuit (II) by this electrical signal.

The present invention provides an apparatus for recording the axial force exerted by a coupling device. This apparatus measures the pressure which the axial force exerts on an elastomer-type spring-like element and for this purpose a pressure sensor is mounted at a predetermined transfer shoulder between the elastomer-type spring-like element and the housing or the pull rod of the coupling device. As an alternative, the pressure sensor can be mounted in the elastomer-type spring-like element.

An overload protection and/or warning arragement for a vehicle brake which is activated by brake pressure so that overload protection and warning indication occurs essentially without any time-delay.
