A method for automated alignment and register measurement in a printing press provides for test patterns having multiple color separations to be printed by the printing press on a printing substrate, recorded by using at least one image sensor of an image acquisition system as a digital overall image, evaluated by a computer with respect to an alignment/register offset and then corrected by the computer for the alignment/register offset. Circular measuring marks having known diameter for each color separation are integrated into the test patterns and the computer ascertains the center position of each circular measuring mark with subpixel accuracy and thus computes the alignment/register offset by cutting out an image region having at least one circular measuring mark from the digital overall image and determining parameters of a model of a printing point of the circular measuring mark from the digital overall image.

Method for automated alignment and register measurement using circular measuring marks

A method for the automated calibration of a printing machine with an image capture system by using a computer, includes putting at least one printed sample substrate with defined deviations into the printing machine, generating a digital image of the printed sample substrate by using the image capture system, calculating current compensation values including defined deviations for configuration parameters of the printing machine relating to optimizing the printing quality by using the computer, and comparing the current compensation values created with target compensation values known from the defined deviations of the printed sample substrate. Serviceability of the printing machine is checked by evaluating the comparison by the computer and/or calibrating the printing machine by using the evaluated comparison by the computer.

Method for the automated calibration of a printing machine

An ink control method is provided for printing machines having a computer. The color areas are scanned on a surface to be printed using a color measuring device. The surface is a printing substrate coated with opaque white, and the color measuring device takes a number of opaque white color measurements. The computer compares the measured opaque white color values to each other or to a reference color value of the opaque white and stores deviations detected in the computer. The color measurement fields are printed onto the printing substrate. The color measurement fields printed onto the opaque white are measured by the color measuring device. The comparison of the measured color values of the color measurement fields under laid with opaque white and the target color values of the original for color control purposes, the computer factors in the influence of the stored detected deviations.

A measuring apparatus for scanning moving, preferably sheet-like, printing materials in a printing material-processing machine, such as a press for processing sheet material. The apparatus has a measuring device which can be moved, at least in the transport direction of the printing materials. The measuring apparatus is set up in such a way that, during a measuring operation, the measuring device is moved over the moving printing material in the transport direction of the printing material with a differential speed relative to the transport speed of the printing material.
