The invention is directed to an improved, reliably performable process for preparing triallyl isocyanurate (TAIC) by Cu-catalysed rearrangement of triallyl cyanurate (TAC) at at least 90&#xb0; C. According to the invention, TAC and, if required, also a Cucatalyst and solvent are fed continuously to a start reaction mixture after onset of the initially inhibited isomerization reaction, the isomerization is performed at from 90 to 160&#xb0; C. and an amount of reaction mixture equivalent to the amount of reactant is drawn off continuously and sent to the workup. Preference is given to effecting the isomerization in TAIC as the reaction medium.

The present invention is directed to methods for flameproofing cellulose fibres and articles containing these fibres. The method involves treatment of materials with cyanuric chloride.

The present invention is directed to a process for the isolation of tris(2,3-dibromopropyl)isocyanurate. The process uses an adsorbent which promotes easy conversion into a solid form of TDPI. The invention also includes to the solid TDPI product prepared in this way and its use in providing flame retardancy to plastics.

This emptying station is suited for emptying contents from bulk bags, especially bulk bags containing particulate hazardous materials as their contents. The emptying station includes a bulk-bag receptacle body having a top opening and bottom outlet, a bulk-bag cutting subassembly in the receptacle body, a raisable and lowerable top closure, and a sealing structure. The cutting subassembly includes at least three cutters each having an associated blade facing upwards, with the cutters collectively arranged to define a pyramid having an apex, and puncture pin positioned at the apex to point upwardly. In operation, a bulk bag is suspended from the top closure, then lowered with the top closure to pass the bulk bag into the receptacle body and cause the substantially flat bottom of the bulk bag to be pieced by the puncture pin and cut by the blades of the cutters to start emptying contents from the bulk bags to the bottom outlet. The sealing structure seals gaps formed between inner surfaces of the side walls and the bulk bag to prevent dust from escaping through the top opening. As the bulk bag is emptied, the top closure continues to lower until the top closure is positioned in a closed state in the top opening. Spray nozzles are preferably arranged in the receptacle body for external and/or internal rinsing of the emptied bulk bag.

Flowable cyanuric chloride containing hydrophilic silica as a flow auxiliary, the hydrophilic silica is a precipitated silica or silica gel having an average agglomerate diameter of less than 15 &mgr;m. Preferred products exhibit improved bulk density, reactivity and/or flowability properties.

A method for producing alkali metal salts or alkaline earth metal salts of 2,4-dicloro-6-hydroxy-s-triazine, especially the sodium salt, by reacting cyanuric chloride with an alkali hydroxide or alkaline earth hydroxide. 1 to 2.5 Equivalents of alkali hydroxide or alkaline earth hydroxide per mole cyanuric chloride in the form of an aqueous solution or suspension are placed in a receiver and cyanuric chloride in powder form or in the form of an aqueous suspension is added while maintaining a pH in the range of 9.5 to 14 and cooling. If less than a stoichiometric amount is added to the receiver, the remaining amount of alkali hydroxide or alkaline earth hydroxide is added during and/or after the addition of cyanide chloride, while maintaining the pH. The method can be carried out on an industrial scale and formation of the salt of monochlorodihydroxytriazine is largely avoided.

Cyanuric chloride moldings, especially tablets and flakes, have advantages over powders in ease of handling. The moldings are produced by droplet or strip application of molten cyanuric chloride on to a surface and dissipation of the latent heat of fusion by cooling the surface or contacting the melt applied as droplets or strips with a cooling gas.

An emptying device for bulk bags having an inner and outer sack in which disturbances during emptying and contact with the bulk material are avoided. For the electrolytic deposition of gold alloys there is required a process with which low carat coatings can be deposited which nevertheless have a high resistance to tarnish. Such coatings are obtained from electrolytes which consist of a salt melt and contain gold salts, alkali thiocyanate and salts of one or more alloyings elements as constituents. Preferably the electrolyte contains per liter of salt melt 0.5 to 20 grams of gold, up to 300 grams of Cu, Zn, Sn, Cd, Ni, Ag, Pd, Ru and/or Pt, up to 200 grams of alkali cyanide and/or water.

There are needed galvanic baths for the deposition of silver and silver alloys which exhibit a high resistance to sulfur and contain the least possible amounts of alloyed platinum group metals and/or gold. This is attained by using a salt melt as the electrolyte which melt contains a silver salt, alkali thiocyanate and salts of at least one alloying metal. Preferably the electrolyte contains per liter of salt melt 0.1 to 40 grams of silver and 1 to 200 grams of platinum metal and/or gold.
