The invention is directed to a security element for the electronic surveillance of articles. This security element is detected by surveillance systems operating in different frequency ranges and it includes at least two materials of high permeability which, when excited by an external alternating magnetic field emit each a characteristic signal. The maximum signal components of the two materials lie in different frequency ranges and the signal components of the one material are negligibly ow in that particular frequency range in which the signal component of the other material is at a maximum level. The invention also relates to surveillance systems that incorporate these security elements.

Security element for the electronic surveillance of articles

The invention relates to a method and a device for joining a first web material to a second web material, in which the first web material is divided into individual sections of a predetermined length while the second web material is continuous. According to the present invention the method and device permitting sections of a first web material to be applied without waste to a second web material. With regard to the method, the first web material is applied to a substrate, by separating every two successive sections of the first web material (,) from each other so that they are spaced by a predetermined relative distance, and by applying the sections to the second web material at the noted relative distance.

The present invention relates to an element for electronically securing articles or for sensor technology, comprising a striplike or wirelike Barkhausen material of given length, which in an external alternating magnetic field is excited to emit a characteristic signal, and a soft magnetic material which is associated with the Barkhausen material. The soft magnetic material comprises individual portions of a predetermined length, which are disposed at a predetermined spacing from one another, and that the portions of the soft magnetic material are positioned relative to the Barkhausen material such that the magnetic stray fields they generate couple with the magnetization of the Barkhausen material.

The present invention is directed to a security element for electronic article surveillance in an electromagnetic surveillance system, comprising a soft magnetic, magnetostrictive strip and a premagnetization element fabricated from a semi-hard or hard magnetic material that is associated with the strip, and to a method of manufacturing such security elements. With regard to the security element the premagnetization element is configured such that, by application of an essentially constant external field (H), it produces a stray field that optimizes the magneto-elastic properties of the stripe.
