The invention relates to a modular construction system for a piston machine (), comprising at least two separate housing parts capable of being joined together into a housing () of the piston machine (), a piston () which is configured as a swivel element, is pivotable and is able to be arranged in the housing (), and a housing cover () for covering the housing (). The piston machine () is in particular configured as a modular construction system, the components of which are formed by multiple segments and joined together in a horizontal and a vertical direction in each case. The invention further relates to a piston machine () produced using the modular construction system and to a method for producing a piston machine ().

The invention relates to a piston machine which comprises: a housing with a chamber with has a substantially circle sector-shaped cross-section; a pivotal piston which is designed as a pivoting element, is arranged in the housing and comprises a first working surface, wherein the housing and the piston define at least one first variable working chamber; a drive or output which is connected to the piston; and an outlet which is arranged in the working chamber for discharging a working fluid. The housing has a cooling opening in at least one housing wall, said opening leading to the chamber at least for convectively cooling a piston side opposite the first working surface by means of a coolant.

The invention concerns a piston internal-combustion engine with separate compression (K) and expansion (E) chambers and a compressed-gas transfer device (7) which feeds compressed gas from the compression chambers to the expansion chambers at the beginning of ignition. A control unit (7) is provided which, depending on the mode of operation, feeds the compressed gas either to the expansion chambers or to a pressure accumulator (10) from which the expansion chambers can also be operated in a pure compressed-air mode.
