A guiding device for sheets (3) supplied to a stacking site (1), the sheet-guiding device includes at least one freely movable and pivotally suspended guide element (21), such guide element having an abutment surface (35) for the incoming sheets (3). Guide element (21) is shaped such that its abutment surface (35) encloses a predetermined acute angle with the vertical plane which is defined by the axis of rotation of guide element (21) and its center of gravity.

Guiding device for sheets supplied to a stacking site

A stapling device comprises a stapling head (1) and a driving element (2) for actuating said stapling head, which are connected by a releasable coupling (6). The stapling head (1) and the driving element (2) are shiftably mounted on housing portions (13, 14) which are connected with each other, and the stapling head (1) is guided in grooves (13a, 14a) which are open toward the stapling position so that the stapling head (1) can be removed from the housing portions (13, 14) when the driving element (2) has been disengaged.

Sheet-stapling device

A stapling unit includes an auxiliary device for attaching an anvil thereof adjustably relative to a stapler head of the stapling unit. The auxiliary device includes a rib-type projection for inserting into the stapler head of the unit, and a positioning pin for mounting to the anvil.

A stapling device for stapling various size sheets includes a stapling head that is movable along a travel path for adjusting the various sheet stapling positions. The stapling device includes a plurality of cooperating anvils having first and second surfaces for cooperating with the first and second legs of a staple being used by the stapling head. One of the anvils has a centrally located third cooperating surface that cooperates with the first leg of the staple when the stapling device is in a first sheet stapling position, and with the second leg of the staple when the stapling device is in a second and different sheet stapling position.

In a stapling device for sheet stacks 9 in which at least one stapling head 1 is provided whose drive 11 is actuated by a switching mechanism, the switching mechanism cooperating with a sensor sensing the thickness of the sheet stack to be stapled. The sensor has a movable sensing element in the form of a pressure member 17, 25 which, during sensing movement, presses a broadside of sheet stack 9 against an abutment 27 so that the thickness of sheet stack 9, positioned between the abutment 27 and the pressure member 17, 25, limits the path length of the sensing movement of the pressure member 17, 25.

Stapling device for sheet stacks

In the case of a stapling device having a stapling head 1 which is mounted so as to be shifted along an adjustment rod 5 for adaptation to different sheet formats, the adjustment rod 5 has more than one row 23, 24 of locking elements 17 and 18, respectively, which extend in the direction of adjustment and in which the stapling head 1 can be releasably locked in order to position the stapling head in selected positions for the stapling of different sheet formats. The locking elements 17, 18 of each row 23 and 24, respectively, are arranged according to a sheet format system associated with each row of locking elements.

At one end of a stacking area, abutments are arranged which extend into, and can be selectively moved out of, the feed path of sheets fed through such area to stack sheets in such area. In the area of the abutments, two oppositely arranged stapling devices are located which are movable parallel with the stack edge defined by the abutments and are adjustable to various stapling distances. The stapling devices engage a spindle with oppositely directed threads such that, when the spindle is rotated, the stapling devices are moved toward or away from each other. The stapling devices laterally substantially surround the stacking area from above and below adjacent to the edge defined by the abutments, but do not intercept the feed path. For this purpose they are provided with recesses through which the sheets can be brought into the stapling position adjacent to the stack abutments and the stacks after stapling can be readily removed from the stapling position.

Sheet stacking and stapling apparatus

A sheet feeder includes a supply tray from which the paper sheets are individually withdrawn from the bottom of the stack. The stack supporting bottom of the tray is inclined relative to a horizontal plane, its angle of inclination being adjustable. The inclination of a supported stack can be adjusted according to stack weight or height. The weight of the sheet stack exerting pressure on stack support and/or the sheet separating device can thereby be controlled such that uniform sheet removal conditions are achieved.
