The high-pressure discharge lamp comprises a sealed lamp vessel ( ) having a quartz glass wall ( ) enclosing a discharge space ( ). Metal foils ( ) are embedded in the wall, connected to electrode rods ( ) projecting from the wall into the discharge space. The electrode rods ( ) have a first part ( ) and a second part ( ) with a diameter of between 250 and 350 &mgr;m and at least an envelope ( ) made of rhenium. The second part, which is positioned within the wall ( ), prevents premature failure of the lamp caused by leakage.

An electrochemical time switching device comprising a hollow body (1). The hollow body (1) is filled with a liquid electrolyte (12), in which a disintegrable anode (11) and a cathode (8) are arranged, between which a charge flows through the electrolyte (12) when a voltage is applied between the anode connection (6) and the cathode connection (7). An elastic sleeve (9) is arranged in the hollow body (1) between the anode connection (6) and the anode (11) and this sleeve encloses an electrical lead-in wire (10) interconnecting the anode connection (6) and the anode (11). The cross-section of the lead-in wire (10) is smaller than the cross-section of the anode (11) and its length is smaller than the length of the relieved sleeve (9).

Electrochemical time switching device

A detection apparatus of a simple construction is formed from an electro-chemiluminescence cell (12) having connections for the supply and the discharge of a liquid to be examined, particularly a mobile phase coming from the separation column of a liquid chromatograph, a voltage source (11) and a detector (14) for electric current, which are connected to the electrodes (1, 2) of the cell (12). Preferably a radiation-sensitive element (13) is also provided.
