Fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines

A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines having a plurality of pump elements 2, 3 disposed in a line, the injection quantity control of which is effected via a control slide 9 that is axially displaceable on the pump piston 9 and by controlling a relief conduit 22-25 of the pump work chamber 18, the control slides 9 being surrounded by partial suction chambers 8 that discharge into a main suction chamber 10 receiving a torque shaft 12 for axially actuating the control slides 9. These partial suction chambers 8 each have a separate partial inflow conduit 39 of defined length and cross section, which communicates with an inflow conduit 33, so that the same volumetric flow is metered to each partial suction chamber in the manner of quantity division, while the main suction chamber 10 is retained and the torque shaft 12 is disposed in it.

A centrifugal adjuster for a fuel injection pump governor having a driving part driven at an rpm in synchronism with the engine and having a torsionally elastically coupled flyweight holder guided in a rotational guide. Via a step, beyond a predetermined rotational deflection, the centrifugal adjuster displaces the flyweight holder axially with respect to the driving part, so that a jolt-like stroke effected by means of the step is superimposed on the regulating stroke effected via the flyweights of the centrifugal adjuster whenever the rpm is at a low level, for instance at idling rpm. As a result, a friction that leads to see-sawing of the engine and exhibits pronounced hysteresis is shaken out of the governor.

Centrifugal adjuster for a fuel injection pump governor

A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines having a plurality of in-line pumping elements, in which there is one pumping element in the injection pump for each individual combustion chamber of the engine. Each pumping element is surrounded by one partial suction chamber, and quantity dividers inserted into inflow and outflow conduits divide the flow of fuel into partial fuel flows so that each partial suction chamber is flushed, whereby no outflowing fuel is capable of mixing with inflowing fuel.

A displacement pickup for detecting positions of an adjusting device, in particular an adjusting device of fuel injection pumps. In an advantageous manner, an adjustment of the displacement pickup can be performed with the aid of a cylindrical tang, which is displaceable and fixable in a through bore in the wall of a housing receiving the adjusting device and through the interior of which an adjusting device of the displacement pickup can be adjusted from outside the housing. In a displacement pickup advantageously embodied as a rotary potentiometer, a contact means of a resistor (R.sub.a) of the resistance course of the potentiometer can thus be adjusted.

An electric control device in the form of a final control element for fuel injection pumps for internal combustion engines is protected in the interior of its housing from having the parts it contains inundated by lubricant originating in the interior of the injection pump. This protection is effected in that a suction device driven by the camshaft is disposed in the interior and aspirates lubricant originating in the injection pump and returns it then. The suction device has a rotating part driven by the camshaft, and at its lowest point in the sump it has a sliding shoe which under spring pressure rests at the rear on the rotating part and is so embodied that lubricant adhering to the rotating part reaches a gap and from there is transported back into the injection pump via a drainage hose containing a check valve.

Electric control device for fuel injection pumps for internal combustion

A control apparatus for internal combustion engines is proposed, in which the adjustment range or the full-load position of a supply quantity adjustment member of the fuel metering apparatus is varied in accordance with the absolute pressure of the aspirated air in the suction tube of the engine in order to attain optimal combustion at the greatest possible torque. The control apparatus (FIG. 1) includes a pneumatic pressure converter and a pneumatic adjustment member. The pneumatic pressure converter, in a first pressure chamber, contains an evacuated diaphragm pressure box exposed to the aspirated air pressure (p.sub.L), which acts counter to a second diaphragm pressure box exposed in its interior to atmospheric air pressure (p.sub.A) and located in a second pressure chamber connected to a compressed air source. Both pressure boxes are connected via an actuation member supporting a valve member, and the valve member reduces the servo air pressure (p.sub.S) to a control air pressure (p.sub.St) which is proportional to the absolute aspirated air pressure (p.sub.L K), this control air pressure actuating the diaphragm adjustment member functioning counter to a restoring spring and to atmospheric air pressure.

An electric centrifugal switch is proposed, in particular for the purpose of safety shutoff upon attainment of a shutoff rpm for fuel injection systems, electrically controlled in an open- or closed-loop manner, of internal combustion engines, which is not vulnerable to rotary oscillations and which effects a rapid shutoff. The centrifugal switch comprises a centrifugal pendulum secured by means of a metal band bearing on a revolving carrier element and a switch attached to the housing and provided with a switching distance from an actuation pin. The centrifugal pendulum carries a flyweight mass on the end of a first lever arm extending substantially in the direction of the rotary axis, and its second lever arm extending at least approximately rectangularly to the rotary axis, is held together with a metal band of the band bearing in constant contact on a roll-off surface located on the carrier element by a restoring spring and, in a preferred embodiment, by means of a supplementary spring element. The inclination and spring rate of the obliquely positioned restoring spring are so designed that the increase in spring force when the centrifugal pendulum is swinging outward is less than the corresponding increase in centrifugal force.

Electric centrifugal switch

A fuel quantity regulator for self-igniting internal combustion engines having a fuel quantity regulator rod, an actuator for the regulator rod and an rpm governor. Between the actuator and the regulator rod there is interposed a rocker arm and an intermediate lever. The rocker arm is connected with the actuator, and the intermediate lever is connected to the regulator rod. During correct operation, the rocker arm engages a recess in the intermediate lever and as a result the actuator movement is transmitted to the regulator rod. When an error signal is generated, however, the rocker arm disengages the recess in the intermediate lever, and as a result the regulator rod is disconnected from the actuator so that only the rpm governor is operational relative to the regulator rod.

A control apparatus is proposed for supercharged fuel injection engines, particularly for diesel engines having a V-type configuration that include two induction tubes, which apparatus enables the adjustment of the controller output range or the limitation of the full-load position of the delivery-amount adjusting member in the fuel measurement apparatus, depending upon which induction tube has the lower prevalent charge-air pressure. The control apparatus comprises a switch valve arranged in the control line to a pressure chamber of a correcting element which acts on the delivery-amount adjusting member; said correcting element has a valve member, controlled by the charge-air pressure, connecting the pressure chamber with an intake pressure line leading to the area of lower prevalent charge-air pressure.

Control apparatus for supercharged fuel injection engines

A fuel injection system for internal combustion engines includes a fuel metering and distributing assembly. The pressure gradient across this assembly is controlled by an electromagnetic fluid pressure modulator which acts on one side of equal pressure diaphragm valves. The pressure gradient is monitored by a pressure-to-voltage transducer whose signal is fed to the modulator as a control signal. One or more of the diaphragm valves may be biased in the closing direction and the controlled pressure line may also include a pressure transformer.

Fuel injection system

A fuel injection system for internal combustion engines includes an airflow measuring member which actuates a fuel metering valve assembly. The pressure drop across this valve assembly may be changed by changing the restoring force on the movable control slide therein. The restoring force is provided by pressurized fluid, for example fuel, and the pressure of this fluid can be adjusted by an electro-magnetic pressure modulator, in turn controlled by an electronic controller responsive to engine conditions as sensed by transducers. A pressure limiting valve further influences the control fluid pressure.
