Raman analysis systems are partitioned to provide for cost-effective flame resistance and explosion resistance, including relatively small enclosures associated with particular subsystems. One or more of an excitation source, spectrograph and/or controller are disposed in separate, flame-resistant or explosion-resistant enclosures. A remote optical measurement probe may also be disposed in a separate flame-resistant or explosion-resistant enclosure. A grating and a detector of the spectrograph may be disposed in separate enclosures, with sealed windows therebetween to deliver a Raman spectral signal from the optical grating to the detector. The sealed window of the detector enclosure may serve the dual purpose of maintaining flame resistance or explosion resistance while maintaining cooling within the enclosure. Wireless interfaces may be used for communications between the enclosures where practical to reduce or eliminate physical electrical feedthroughs.

Explosion-proof and flameproof enclosure for Raman systems

The present disclosure relates to a sensor system having at least one measuring point having at least one first sensor and one measuring transducer. The first sensor is configured to output first sensor signals that are a function of a first measurand of a measuring medium present at the measuring point. The measuring transducer is connected to the first sensor in order to receive the first sensor signals and comprises an evaluation application which is configured to determine one additional piece of information that is different from the first measurand using an evaluation algorithm on the basis of at least the first sensor signals. The sensor system furthermore comprises a higher-level data processing structure, such as a server or a cloud. Both the higher-level data processing structure and the measuring transducer are configured to execute a training application configured to train the evaluation algorithm.

An optical sensor for determining the concentration of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in a medium incudes a light source configured to emit transmitted light having a wavelength of less than 300 nm into the medium; a detector for receiving received light, wherein the detector is configured at least for receiving received light having a wavelength of 300 nm to 400 nm, wherein the transmitted light is converted into received light by means of fluorescence in the medium as a function of the concentration of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, wherein a detector signal is generated from the received light; and a data processing unit configured to determine the concentration of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons using the detector signal, wherein the data processing unit controls the light source such that the light source emits modulated transmitted light according to a duty cycle. Methods of using the optical sensor are further disclosed.

The present disclosure relates to a potentiometric probe for measuring a measured variable that represents an ion concentration in a measuring medium, including a probe base including a sensor circuit, and two electrochemical half-cells arranged such that one of the half-cells surrounds at least one portion of the other half-cell, wherein at least one of the half-cells is configured as a module which is connected to the probe base via a mechanical and electrical interface. In another embodiment, one of the half-cells is a measuring half-cell including an ion-selective membrane and a terminal lead which electrically contacts the ion-selective membrane. The other half-cell is a reference half-cell, wherein the measuring half-cell and/or the reference half-cell are each configured as a module which is connected to the probe base via a mechanical and electrical interface.

The present disclosure includes an optical measuring system having at least one light source that radiates excitation light into a medium to be measured. The excitation light is converted into fluorescent light by the medium. The optical measuring system also includes a first photodiode that receives a decay curve of the fluorescent light and converts it into a first signal and at least one optical component that receives the fluorescent light and converts it into a second signal. A data processing unit determines an oil-in-water content based on the first signal and the second signal.

The present disclosure relates to an inline sensor including a housing fixable in a wall of a fluid line or a process container.
