An integrated circuit chip includes an output node, receiver front ends, and control logic. The receiver front ends are configured to receive an input signal. Each of the receiver front ends is configured to receive the input signal and provide an output signal at the output node. At least one of the receiver front ends is configured to selectively consume less power. The control logic is configured to select the number of receiver front ends providing an output signal to the output node based on a received signal strength indication.

Each of the receiver front ends is configured to receive the input signal and provide an output signal at the output node. At least one of the receiver front ends is configured to selectively consume less power.

In a capacitive biometric sensor, in particular, a fingerprint sensor, to determine the maximum contrast that can actually be achieved in that application in the gray scale values, in particular, of a fingerprint (dynamic resolution of the sensor), at least one measurement point composed of a dielectric material is integrated above each of the sensor electrodes on a sensor array.

Capacitive biometric sensor

The invention relates to fingerprint sensors. A fingerprint sensor has a plurality of sensor electrodes below a surface intended for contacting the underside of a finger. At least one protective electrode is mounted on the surface. The sensor electrodes can have a first AC voltage at a prescribed frequency applied to them. The protective electrode can have a second AC voltage, which is essentially at the prescribed frequency, applied to it.
