The invention consists in a method of setting up a machine for sealing closure clips between a stamp and a bottom tool, which for coaling the clip are first of all moved towards each other up to a sealing distance and are then moved away from each other, and where the sealing distance between stamp and bottom tool is detected by means of a sensor.
