A computer system may create version records in a versioned database that stores data from transaction documents. Each version record may include a timestamp that represents a time from which the data stored in the version record is valid. The timestamp may represent the time of creation of particular version of the transaction document. The version records may be accessed to perform a valuation for a specified time.

In one general aspect, a method and system are described for providing a flexible data hierarchy. The method may include obtaining a plurality of data sets, the plurality of data sets including system-defined attributes and user-defined attributes, generating, for each attribute in each data set, a field for receiving input, providing, in a user interface display, at least one data set of the plurality of data sets and the generated field for each attribute in the at least one data set, receiving, in two or more of the generated fields, a value indicating a sequence placement for a respective attribute associated with a respective field of the two or more generated fields, and automatically generating, for the attributes associated with the two or more fields having a value, at least one hierarchical structure according to the sequence placement.

Flexible organizational hierarchy

Methods, systems, and articles of manufacture are disclosed for determining payers of cost events in a billing environment. A biller may provide billable services or goods for its customers. At least one participant may be involved in rendering the services or goods, or a service or good related thereto. The payer for each invoice may be determined depending on one or more factors, such as the type of service or good provided and/or the relationships between the involved participant. Additional features may be provided, such as issuing an invoice to the identified payer to request payment.

Systems and methods for determining payers in a billing environment

Systems and methods are provided for automated payment handling. In one implementation, a method is provided for processing of a payment request. The method may include determining, using the payment request, an entity that will receive a payment, and determining an outgoing bank account to use for the payment. Further, the method may include automatically selecting, from a list of available payment procedures, a preferred payment procedure for the payment request, the preferred payment procedure indicating a payment form code and a connection with the entity. Moreover, the method may include validating the preferred payment procedure using a set of rules and paying, to the entity, the payment using the validated payment procedure.
