At least one thread tension sensor for each thread is provided on a winding machine. The actual value of thread tension is measured for each thread. The actual value is compared with a specified value in a comparator device and, in the event of a deviation being determined between the actual value and the specified value, a drive motor is actuated to adjust the thread brake of the thread concerned. This arrangement allows for the maintaining of a constant thread tension by a control circuit. The thread tension sensor can be used not only to control the thread tension, but also to monitor the specified thread tension range, and as a thread break monitor.

Individual segments (38, 39) are slid over a divided yarn strip (22) with a dividing device (35) and connected together on both sides (63). By this means separate separating elements (23, 29) are formed.

Method and device for yarn division on a warping machine

A blocking device, preferably in the form of a baffle plate is provided behind the rollers of a thread tightener in a bobbin creel which can be pressed against one another, namely behind the roller pair in the direction of the through-passage. In case of a thread break, the baffle plate prevents the loose thread end from falling out of the roller tightener. Preferably, the baffle plate is latched onto a thread hoop and rotatably journalled, so that it can be swung from an operations position into a neutral position.

A monitoring needle (19) is rotatably mounted under spring tension in a housing (18). A light emitter/light receptor device is fixed to the housing (18) in the plane of the thread (5) and in the pivotal region of the monitoring needle (19), this device producing a control signal both in the case of irregularity in the thread and when crossed by the monitoring needle.

On the warping machine (12) the width (11) of the yarn strip (10) is continuously monitored by means of a line camera (25). The measured strip width is compared in a processor (32) to a stored reference value, with deviations forming a control signal for activating a control motor (35) at the warping reed (9). That ensures continuous strip width regulation, at full winding speed.

In order to increase the yarn tension between a winder and a bobbin creel, the yarns are returned from a first yarn tensioner to the inlet of a second adjacent yarn tensioner in the row. The rows of bobbins which are associated with the second yarn tensioners remain without bobbins. In order to facilitate a change in direction when dealing with sensitive yarns at the second yarn tensioner, a direction-changing roller is disposed at the inlet thereof.

Method of producing a yarn tension on a bobbin creel

The invention relates to a winding machine, in particular a warping or beaming machine, in which yarns are drawn off a bobbin creel at high speed. To reduce the air friction of the yarns and to improve the removal of fiber contaminating material, there is provided an arrangement for accelerating the air which surrounds the yarns. In addition it is possible to provide an extractor hood with which the air is sucked out of the region of the winding unit and recirculated to the said arrangement.

The protective apparatus for a winding machine is formed by a support construction comprising pillars and a transverse support member. The support construction is arranged in a portal-like fashion over the winding machine, wall portions in the form of swing doors and an anti-draft plate filling the intermediate space. The wall portions are secured to the support construction and can preferably be actuated automatically by drive means.
