The invention relates to a tempering device () for objects () located on the object carrier () of a microtome () of a cryostat () comprising an operating means supply () connected to a cooling device or a cooling and heating device () arranged on the object carrier (), and a temperature control system. According to the invention, one such tempering device () is embodied in such a way that the operating means supply () does not hinder the work carried out on the microtome (), and the accuracy of the cut is affected as little as possible. To this end, the operating means supply () is displaceably positioned in a guiding element () which is arranged on the guiding carriage () for the advancing movement () and the cutting movement () of the object head () and is oriented parallel to the direction of advancement (), in such a way that it can be guided away from the object head ().

Tempering device for a microtome

The combination of a table and a table-type microtome has a base having an internal volume and a linear guide. A seating device is movably mounted on the base. The seating device is movable along the linear guide. A drive causes movement of the seating device relative to the base along the linear guide for height adjustment. A table-type microtome is arranged on the seating device. At least one appliance for the table-type microtome is arranged in the internal volume of the base and is operatingly connected to the table-type microtome.

A knife holder for a microtome has actuating levers for fastening or for releasing the knife on the knife holder, constructed such that in the position effecting the fastening of the knife, the actuating levers extend at least partially over the cutting edge of the knife. The actuating levers thereby act simultaneously as finger protectors and prevent inadvertent contact with the cutting edge in the side regions of the knife when the knife is fastened. The fastening of the knife takes place by means of permanent magnets, which are arranged in the base portion of the knife holder and motion-coupled to the actuating levers which cover the knife edge.

Knife holder for a microtome

A specimen holder clamp for a microtome comprising a fixed jaw which is fixed relative to a guide member and a movable jaw which is movable along a path defined by the guide member. The clamp is provided with a first infinitely adjustable rack, and the movable jaw carries a second complementary incrementally adjustable rack for coupling engagement so that when the second complementary incrementally adjustable rack engages with the first infinitely adjustable rack, fine adjustment of the clamp can be effected, and when the second complementary incrementally adjustable rack is disengaged, coarse adjustment can be effected. The second complementary incrementally adjustable rack is normally biased into engagement with the first infinitely adjustable rack.

In a clamping mechanism for a blade of a microtome, in which the blade is clampable in a cutting blade mounting, the blade is supported on its front side and on its rear side in proximity with the cutting edge in the cutting region of the blade.

Clamping mechanism for a cutter of a microtome

A microtome has a specimen holder which executes a vertical up and down movement relative to a cutting knife and which has a guide mechanism in which a sleeve is arranged so as to be horizontally displaceable. The sleeve is provided at its front end with a specimen clamping mechanism and in its interior with a micrometer nut which is secured against axial displacement and through which extends a micrometer spindle mounted on the guide mechanism. The micrometer nut has on its outer face a toothed ring which is connected operatively to a pinion connected to an electric motor. When the electric motor is activated the sleeve is displaced in the guide mechanism. The micrometer spindle extends, on the side opposite the specimen clamping mechanism, through the guide mechanism as a stub end on which is located a mechanical cutting-thickness advance mechanism. This advances the sleeve together with the specimen clamping mechansim, by a cutting-thickness set from outside the microtome, always in an uppermost position of the specimen holder.

Microtome feed-motor control

A microtome has a specimen holder which executes a vertical up and down movement relative to a cutting knife and which has a guide mechanism in which a sleeve is arranged so as to be horizontally displaceable. The sleeve is provided at its front end with a specimen clamping mechanism and in its interior with a micrometer nut which is secured against axial displacement and through which extends a micrometer spindle mounted on the guide mechanism. The micrometer nut has on its outer face a toothed ring which is connected operatively to a pinion connected to an electric motor. Microtomes

A microtome provided with a drive wheel mounted in a stand, to be actuated manually and/or by means of a drive motor for generating a vertical relative movement between a specimen holder and a cutting knife, has a specimen holder, having a specimen clamping mechanism, arranged so as to be horizontally displaceable in a vertically drivable guide mechanism by means of a cutting-thickness adjustment mechanismn. The adjustment mechanism can horizontally displace the specimen holder through a cutting thickness adjustment distance towards the cutting knife. A specimen retraction mechanism serves to displace horizontally the specimen holder from an unretracted position to a retracted position, the retracted position being further from the cutting knife than the unretracted position. The distance between the retracted position and the unretracted position is greater than the maximum cutting thickness adjustment distance.
