A valve drive of an internal combustion engine, with a camshaft including cams for actuating gas-exchange valves, wherein at least one cam, which includes several cam faces, is guided nonrotatably but with freedom of axial movement on the camshaft; wherein a stroke profile, which cooperates with an actuating pin for the axial displacement of the cam or cam piece, is assigned to the associated axially displaceable cam or an axially displaceable cam piece comprising several cams; and wherein the stroke profile of the axially displaceable cam or cam piece in question includes intersecting stroke curves. A guide element is assigned to the end of the actuating pin which can be introduced into the stroke curve of the stroke profile of the associated axially displaceable cam or cam piece, this guide element being supported in such a way that it can rotate or pivot around the axis of the actuating pin.

Valve drive of an internal combustion engine

A valve drive of an internal combustion engine with a camshaft including cams for actuating gas-exchange valves, wherein at least one cam, comprising several cam faces, is guided nonrotatably but with freedom of axial movement on the camshaft, wherein a stroke profile, which cooperates with an actuating pin for the axial displacement of the cam, is assigned to the associated axially displaceable cam, and wherein the stroke profile of the axially displaceable cam in question comprises several stroke curves. A first stroke curve and a second stroke curve of the stroke profile are contoured both in the axial direction and in the radial direction such that the contour in the axial direction of the stroke profile of the camshaft is responsible for a defined axial displacement of the associated cam, and the contour in the radial direction of the stroke profile of the camshaft prevents the stroke curves from colliding.

The invention relates to an oil collecting arrangement for an internal-combustion engine having an oil collecting housing () arranged below a crankcase, which oil collecting housing () has at least two sections of different space depths, in a deeper space section (), an oil scavenging line () being provided by means of which the lubricating oil is delivered to the consuming devices by way of a pump. It is suggested that, in the oil collecting housing (), a separate insertion part () is fastened which, on the one hand, has an oil barrier () aligned transversely to the longitudinal dimension of the oil collecting housing () (), which oil barrier () prevents a flowing back of the lubricating oil from the deeper space section () into the crank space and/or into the flatter space section () in the inclined position of the internal-combustion engine, and which, on the other hand, has oil return ducts () for the lubricating oil flowing back from the cylinder head.

Oil outlet for a combustion engine and method of making same

A water-cooled multi-cylinder internal-combustion engine having a crankcase and cooling ducts which surround the cylinders and which are acted upon by coolant by way of a pump in a small cooling circuit. For switching over to a large cooling circuit provided with a radiator, a thermostat is provided which is inserted in a thermostat housing. The thermostat housing has a top part provided with coolant connections and a bottom part preferably integrated in the crankcase. An insertion part is inserted in the bottom part of the thermostat housing, which insertion part has at least one opening which is controlled by the thermostatic valve for controlling the flow in the small and the large cooling circuit.

Water-cooled multi-cylinder internal-combustion engine

A coolant circuit and method of operating a coolant circuit is provided for a multi-cylinder internal-combustion engine. A cooling jacket which surrounds a cylinder head housing and a cylinder block and is supplied with cooling liquid by way of a pump. The cylinder cooling jacket and the cylinder head cooling space are provided with a connection for feeding the cooling liquid and with the cooling liquid flowing parallel through the cylinder head housing and the cylinder block. Thus, a cooling of the cylinder block and the cylinder head which meets the requirements takes place without any additional control devices. The engine rapidly reaches its operating temperature, thereby reducing the cold running phase. As a result, the fuel consumption and the crude emissions can be reduced.

Coolant circuit and method for a multi-cylinder internal-combustion engine

A cooling circuit arrangement for a multicylinder internal combustion engine with V-shaped cylinder banks and cooling jackets which surround the cylinder banks and which are provided with cooling liquid by a pump arranged between the two cylinder banks on one of their face sides is disclosed. The pressure-sided connection of the coolant pump, arranged on the one face side of the two cylinder banks, is connected by a coolant pipe to a distributor pipe, arranged on the other face side of the cylinder banks, for the purpose of feeding cooling liquid. A return flow chamber for the coolant from the cooling jackets is arranged between the two cylinder banks adjacent to the pump housing. In this manner the space, existing between the two cylinder banks, is utilized for a part of the coolant arrangement so that the internal combustion engine exhibits a compact design.

Cooling circuit for a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine

A combustion engine cylinder head has at one wall of the cylinder head at least one hot site produced by the radiant heat of a combustion space. The hot site is cooled by a cooling duct, through which cooling water is flowing. To optimize the cooling of the hot site, an additional flow channel is provided, for a concerted flow of cooling water and for carrying additional cooling water in the cooling duct and for cooling of the hot site in the wall of the cylinder head.

Cylinder head for a water-cooled internal combustion engine

An opposed-cylinder internal-combustion engine, includes a cylinder block and crankcase which is longitudinally divided in the center of the crankshaft bearing. A bearing support is connected with the crankcase by way of cylinder head bolts. The cylinder block and crankcase has a joint vertical junction plane with the bearing support. Both bearing support halves are, on the one hand, connected with one another by way of bearing block screws and, on the other hand, the bearing support is held by way lo of cylinder head bolts between the crankcase halves arranged at both sides of the bearing support while forming oil ducts. At the same time, cylinder heads can be fastened on the crankcase by way of the screws.

For avoiding exterior, cooling-water-carrying ducts, an internal-combustion engine comprising two mutually opposite cylinder banks has integrated ducts for the feeding and removal of the cooling water to the cooling jackets and the cylinder heads.

An internal combustion engine with two rows of cylinders with a V-angle of 180 degrees has a crankshaft provided with a flywheel, said crankshaft having a drive for a parallel intermediate shaft adjacent to the flywheel. One camshaft of each row of cylinders is driven respectively from the two ends of this intermediate shaft. The arrangement of the drive for the intermediate shaft near the flywheel avoids the transmission of rotary oscillations from the crankshaft to the intermediate shaft.

An oil guiding housing is arranged below the crankcase of an internal-combustion engine and has a storage tank for lubricating oil and a housing part with a connection for an oil filter. In the pan part of the oil guiding housing situated directly below the crankshaft, a forward flow and return flow part for lubricating oil is integrated. The oil guiding housing ensures a targeted guiding of all lubricating oil flows and provides a good degassing of the oil.

A cylinder head of an internal-combustion engine is disclosed which includes a horizontally divided carrier in which camshaft bearings as well as receiving devices for bucket tappets are arranged. The arrangement is constructed rigidly as a result of longitudinal and transverse webs and, by removing the receiving devices from the cylinder housing, permits the use of a simple casting method for the cylinder head housing.

An L-shaped scanning ring, which is constructed as a simple stamped metal part, can be mounted at a crankshaft web of a crankshaft after installation of the crankshaft. The scanning ring rests against the crankshaft web with both legs and, on one of the legs, carries a toothing which inductively cooperates with a stationary sensor mounted in the crankcase. The ring has a radially extending gap and, as a result, can be bent open so far that it can easily be fitted over the crankshaft. As a result of the subsequent bending-together, the scanning ring rests form-fittingly against the crankshaft web and is protected from twisting by means of pins.

An oil pump of an internal-combustion engine supplies dirty oil through a vertically extending oil feeding duct into a ring duct of an oil filter flange. From there, the oil flows through the oil filter and a central bore into a main oil duct. Since the oil feeding duct leads into the ring duct above the central bore, and the main oil duct extends above the central bore, the filter oil level, will not fall under the level of the dirty-oil inlet into the ring duct when the engine is switched off. A complete emptying of the oil filter is therefore prevented when the engine is switched off, and a fast oil pressure buildup is promoted when the engine is started again.

Arrangement for the purification of lubricating oil

A crankcase ventilation system for motor vehicles comprises a main ventilation system and a safety ventilation system, in which at an air guiding housing of the intake system, connecting pieces are arranged to which the lines of the two systems are connected. So that the connection between the lines of the two systems and the air guiding housing is simplified with respect to construction and also requires little space, a joint connecting piece having connecting pipe sections for the lines of both systems is provided at the air guiding housing. Separate ducts lead away from the connecting pipe sections and extend to remotely arranged outlet openings. The outlet openings of both ducts--seen in flow direction--extend at a distance from one another.
