The hollow guide is designed as a thin ceramic hollow tube which is guided in an outer tube while leaving a hollow space between the outer tube and the ceramic hollow tube, the outer tube being provided at its proximal end with a connecting part having a gas connection and receiving a focusing optical system. The ceramic hollow tube is guided in the outer tube through at least one mounting part arranged at the proximal end and at least one mounting part at the distal end, which in each case is supported locally with respect to the inner wall of the outer tube. The mounting parts are thus arranged so that free flow cross-sections to conduct the rinsing gas remain in the region of support, these being matched with the internal inner cross-section of the ceramic hollow tube, so that gas flow flowing past the ceramic hollow tube is produced both on the outside and on the inside. The gas flow effects cooling of the ceramic hollow tube on the one hand and prevents impurities penetrating the distal end of the ceramic hollow tube on the other hand.

Device for rinsing a hollow guide for carbon dioxide lasers

A insufflation unit for distending a body cavity such as a uterus which is to be examined or treated endoscopically has a gas control circuit which connects a gas supply unit to the endoscope via a flowmeter, a shut-off valve and a filter. Associated with this gas control circuit is an extractor circuit which comprises a pump whose suction end is coupled up to the output of the flowmeter. A pressure-measuring transducer logs the pressure at the suction end of the pump and its measurements, together with those from the flowmeter, are made use of in analyzer electronics by switching off the pump before a pressure likely to put the patient at risk occurs should there be a fault in the extractor circuit.

Unit for insufflating and cleaning gas

An apparatus is disclosed for measuring the throughflow of a body liquid, in particular an apparatus for measuring the flow of urine in urological function diagnostics. The apparatus comprises a collecting funnel connected to a tube, which can be suspended in a WC bowl. In the tube are two axially spaced transducers one for continuously determining the electrical conductivity of fluid flowing through the tube from the funnel and the other for determining the specific electrical conductivity of the liquid. An electronic evaluation system determines the throughflow of the liquid upon the basis of the values determined by the transducers.

Apparatus for measuring the throughflow of a body liquid

Equipment is disclosed for the controlled insufflation of a fluid into a body cavity through a probe inserted thereinto, particularly for insufflating gas through the conduit of an endoscope partly inserted into the body cavity. The equipment comprises a supply device for delivering the fluid and on which a selected nominal value for the pressure in the body cavity can be set and the relevant actual value of the body cavity pressure can be displayed by means of a measuring instrument. The inlet side of a circulating pump, is connected by way of a filter to the body caviy. During an operation the pump draws off fluid from the body cavity and circulates it back to the body cavity. Part of the circuit on the delivery side of the pump and part of the circuit leading to the measuring instrument have a common portion leading to the body cavity. When the pump is running, therefore, a retroactive dynamic pressure is applied to the measuring instrument. The dynamic pressure is compensated for by a partial vacuum derived from the delivery flow of the pump.

Equipment for the controlled insufflation of a fluid into a body cavity

An insufflation device for filling a body cavity, such as an abdominal cavity, with a gas from a gas bottle via an expansion valve and a feed pipe leading to the body cavity characterized by the feed pipe being formed along in length by two channels with the first of the two channels having an expansion valve for setting an overpressure for rapid filling of the body cavity during an initial period and the second channel having an expansion valve to adjust the pressure to the pressure desired in the body cavity. The pressure of the second flow is monitored and compared by an electronic evaluator system, which will interrupt the flow and sound alarms if the pressure exceeds a predetermined amount over the desired value and also if the pressure exceeds a predetermined maximum amount.

Insufflation device for endoscopic intervention

The device comprises a rotationally driven surgical instrument incorporating a hand-held element having a mount rotatably installed therein for reception of interchangeable cutting and milling inserts, a driving motor for driving the mount receiving the tool inserts, a control unit for controlling the driving motor with means of setting the rotational speed and of preselecting the rotational speed range and direction of rotation as well as a digital indicator for displaying the rotational speed set up in each case. For the purpose of accessible storage of setting data, the control unit incorporates a non-volatile read-write memory for digital storage of rotational speeds, a code carrier as well as a coding/decoding arrangement.

Device with a rotationally-driven surgical instrument

In an apparatus for the insufflation of gas into a body cavity the dynamic pressure of the gas flow conducted to the body cavity and the static intra-abdominal pressure in the body cavity are detected with at least one measuring transducer. The electrical output signal of the measuring transducer detecting the pressure is converted by difference formation with a compensation signal, which substantially takes into account the resistance to flow of the instrument conducting the gas into the body cavity, into a difference signal corresponding to the static intra-abdominal pressure. With this signal a control circuit for the setting of the desired pressure value in the body cavity is controlled, in which respect the compensation signal in each case at the start of the insufflation is generated from the output signal of the relevant measuring transducer and is stored in a store and upon gas flow the stored compensation signal is fed to the one input and the output signal of the measuring transducer is fed to the other input of an operational amplifier for the formation of the difference signal, whilst the store at the input store is separated electrically from the measuring transducer by way of a switch.

Apparatus for the insufflation of gas into a body cavity

The hose pump in particular for drawing flushing liquids out of bodily cavities, is so constructed that the extremities of the hose which is to be inserted into the pump housing have different coupling or plug elements for suction and pressure hoses which are to be connected, and different fitting elements for complementary fitting elements of the pump housing or of the coupling element, whereby the positions of the two extremities in the housing cannot be transposed and accidental reversal of the suction and pressure hoses is prevented.

Hose pump

The rectoscope comprises a short, wide tube having a proximal coupling housing or a coupling housing which may be coupled at its distal side to a tube of optional length and width. The coupling housing may be coupled at its proximal side to a mandrel or an instrument carrier which is equipped with axially parallel through-bores, for sealed traversal by an optical system and auxiliary instruments. The tube is rigidly connected to an operating table or the like by means of a handle. Passages through which an inert gas may be introduced into the rectum under pressure lead into the rectoscope through the handle or separately. Vapors impeding the view which are developed in the rectal cavity during a coagulating operation may either be discharged direct into the atmosphere via a separate passage or retained in a reception vessel, together with quantities of fluid or body secretions drawn off by suction via a flushing and suction tube inserted into the rectal cavity, by means of a filter preconnected to a gas return pipe.

Rectoscope

This invention relates to catheters for measuring the pressure along the length of a patient's urethra, of the kind having a closed distal end and provided at a distance from said distal end with a lateral outlet for a fluid to be fed in at a constant rate of flow through a passage arranged for connection to a measuring instrument. According to the invention, the lateral catheter outlet is formed by an annular gap extending in a plane at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the catheter and into which opens the supply passage for the fluid. Advantageously, the catheter is transversely divided into two parts constituting distal and proximal sections having mutually opposed terminal areas. These terminal areas are connected by a rigid bridging member to form the annular gap, which latter for example has a width of advantageously between 0.2 and 0.5 mm.
