To operate the air circulation and convey the stock flow of scrap material comminuted in the housing ( ) of a hammer mill, the airflow generated by the blower effect of a rotor ( ) and the stock flow passing through an upper classifying grate ( ) are diverted by a deflector hood ( ) and guided vertically downwards into a duct ( ) that is separate from the housing ( ). The stock flow is combined with the stock flow classified in the area of a lower classifying grate ( ). The air flow is then guided in the circulating air and the combined stock flow is conveyed to a device ( ) for further processing, sorting and/or conveyance.

Method for operating the air circuit and conveying stock flow in the casing of a hammer mill

In a housing for a comminution machine with tools, which are secured to a rotor supported in the housing and which form active wear parts, such as hammers, and an anvil forming a counter tool, as well as inactive wear parts in the form of interchangeable wear plates which are secured to the rotor and also to the inside of the housing, an opening for feeding the material to be comminuted and at least one grate forming another inactive wear part, an ejection door for discharging heavy parts as well as an impact wall segment facing the ejection door and also forming an inactive wear part, and housing sections which are arranged horizontally in at least one plane, wherein at least one of the housing sections can be pivoted outwards about at least one pivot point, there is provided that at least sections of the wear parts are attached to the housing with bolts secured to the respective wear parts and form zones according to the different wear characteristics of the comminution process, so that the wear parts which are more wear-resistant than the other wear parts, are arranged around the rotor on the side walls of the housing, so that the combined characteristic features, such as their arrangement, their shape, their material composition and/or their mutual interaction, provide a matched wear characteristics of the housing and the rotor and approximately uniform maintenance intervals.

Housing for a comminution machine

In a hammer breaker for breaking and crushing scrap material, particularly scrap metal, in which a hammer rotor having a plurality of hammers pivotally mounted thereon is rotatably mounted about a horizontal axis in a housing having an inlet for the material to be broken and crushed, and an outlet for broken and crushed material at the top of a shaft which is located above the hammer rotor and is arranged to receive material tangentially from the rotor, the outlet being covered by a classifying grate which extends across the top of the shaft, the grate is mounted adjustably, preferably pivotably, relative to the shaft. This enables the effective size of the grate openings through which the broken and crushed material can escape to be adjusted according to the size and density of the scrap lumps required without having to change the grate.

Hammer breaker

In a hammer breaker for breaking and crushing scrap material, in which a hammer rotor having a plurality of hammers pivotally mounted thereon is rotatably mounted in a housing having an inlet for the material to be broken and crushed, a passage for receiving the broken and crushed material from the hammer rotor, and an outlet from the passage covered by a classifying grate, the passage is divided by a perforated baffle into a pair of chambers arranged in series in the direction of rotation of the rotor. The first chamber is provided with the classifying grate outlet, and the second chamber leads back to the material inlet so that air is able to circulate around the rotor via the perforated baffle and the second chamber, thus reducing the throughput of air of the machine and correspondingly reducing the size of the dust extractor which is needed.
