A printing mechanism is preceded by a single feeding region for separate papers and endless papers. The feeding region comprises an inlet duct for manually feeding separate papers, a tractor for the transport of endless papers arranged fixedly under the inlet duct and at least one cassette for automatically feeding separate papers. The cassette is detachably arranged above the inlet duct and is inclined obliquely forwards.

A pivotally journalled ink ribbon cassette and an ink ribbon fork are coupled to the carriage of a printing head and arranged so as to be displaceable transversely to the line direction, in a simple manner such that both a multi-color and a single-color mode of operation are obtained. The ink ribbon fork is arranged at its free end so as to be pivotable and longitudinally displaceable on a guide rod journalled in guide arms of the ink ribbon cassette, and in that with respect to the position of the printing roller and of the printing head both means for transverse displacement of the ink ribbon fork and means for oblique positioning of the ink ribbon cassette with ink ribbon are provided.

The positioning device for the magnetic head (14) of a magnetic disc store (1) is constructed so that the heat produced by the stepping motor (6) has no significant influence on the magnetic-head support (2). For this purpose the stepping motor (6) is arranged on a mounting plate (5) made of a material with a low thermal expansion coefficient. This mounting plate (5) is secured to the chasis (3) of the drive mechanism. Between the stepping motor (6) and mounting plate (5) a foil (8) with satisfactory heat-sinking properties is arranged.

A centering and clamping device for a flexible foil includes an expanding cone which expands an expanding mandril via at least one resilient element, the force that can be transmitted to the expanding mandril by the resilient element at the location of the transition between the conical and the cylindrical portion of said mandril being greater than the force required for widening the opening in the foil but smaller than the force required for a substantial elastic deformation of the expanding mandril beyond the cylindrical inner bore of the hub, which bore terminates at an end surface. The expanding cone comprises a flange which urges the flange of the expanding mandril onto the foil.

Device for centering and clamping a flexible foil

A disc drive for a flexible magnetic disc includes a frame, a pivoted cover, a turntable spaced from a spindle-mounted disc clamping cone, and a lever for cooperating with the cone to move it toward and away from the turntable. The lever is mounted on the frame about a pivoting axis. As the cover is closed, a cover mounted roller contacts the lever at a point spaced a distance from the lever pivoting axis. This distance continuously increases until the disc is clamped for operation. The stationary members for the spindle and the turntable are a unitary part with the frame. The members are machined to their final dimensions in one operation.

Flexible disk drive

In order to enable ink ribbon transport and ribbon reversal on the one hand and on the other hand the withdrawal of the printing head from the platen to be performed by means of only a single motor, a pawl-and-ratchet device is provided between the drive gearwheels for the reel holders and the drive motor. The cord for the withdrawal of the printing head is connected to a deflection lever which follows the profile of a cam disc of a cam mechanism, which is connected via a further pawl-and-ratchet device to the common shaft driven by the electric motor. The two pawl-and-ratchet devices drive in opposed directions. The common drive motor is reversible and is electrically controlled by the cam mechanism.

Drive for transporting and reversing an ink ribbon, and for withdrawing

An ink ribbon device having a holder for a ribbon spool which is pivotably mounted on a frame which supports the spool drive device. When the spool is inserted into the holder, a slide on the holder top is operated against the force of a spring, and engages guide slots. The holder then automatically is guided to the operating position and the spool engages the drive device. Upon movement of the holder for unloading, the spool is ejected by the spring.
