The opening can be adapted to pass draining oil from the top of the body to the bottom of the body for supply into an engine block.

Prognostically warning of damper damage in a machine system includes monitoring a machine operating parameter linked with torsional loads on a crankshaft, and a temperature parameter. The prognostic warning strategy also includes populating an operating history of a machine system based on the monitored parameters, calculating a damper damage term based on the operating history, and triggering a damper damage warning where the damper damage term exceeds a threshold.

Various fuel injection systems and fuel injectors are disclosed that provide varying cooling rates for fuel injectors connected in series to fuel supply and drain rail. The local cooling rate for each injector is manipulated to balance the heat flux or heat transfer across the injectors disposed along the rail. The cooling rates may be manipulated by varying sizes of openings or slots in the nozzle case, by varying annular spaces disposed between the nozzle case and the portion of the injector body that houses the actuator and solenoid assembly, and by varying the size of annular spaces disposed between the nozzle case and the cylinder head. Strategic placement of slots in the nozzle case that direct more flow at the portion of the injector body that houses the actuator and solenoid assembly may also be employed. As a result, the operating temperatures of fuel injectors connected in series to a fuel rail can be manipulated and moderated so the downstream injectors are not prone to overheating.

System and method for cooling fuel injectors

A fuel injector includes first and second electrical actuators positioned within an injector body. First and second pairs of electrical conductors extend from a socket connector outside of the injector body to the first and second electrical actuators, respectively. The electrical conductors extend through an elastomeric sealing member that seals against fuel leakage from the fuel injector. The elastomeric sealing member provides annular sealing ridges in sealing contact with an access passage of the injector body and includes individual conductor seal passages that form seals around the outer surface of the individual electrical conductors. The elastomeric sealing member includes features that facilitate assembly of the fuel injector in a manner that reduces risk of damage to the sealing strategy.

A solenoid assembly is disclosed. The solenoid assembly has a housing having a cavity disposed therein. The solenoid assembly also has a unitary stator having a plurality of separated portions. The separated portions are held together by at least one lip located on an outer periphery of the stator. The stator is sized to fit within the cavity disposed in the housing.
