The toner having a significantly improved dispersibility of a colorant in toner particles is provided. The present invention provides a dry toner comprising: (i) a binder resin; (ii) a colorant; (iii) at least one of metallophthalocyanine and a metallophthalocyanine derivative having a central metal selected from the group consisting of Cr, Fe, Co, Ni, Zn, Mn, Mg, and Al; and (iv) a polymer containing 0.5 to 20% by mass of a base unit derived from a specific polymerizable monomer having an amide group.

Dry toner, method for producing dry toner, and method for forming an image

The toner having a significantly improved dispersibility of a colorant in toner particles is provided. The present invention provides a dry toner comprising: (i) a binder resin; (ii) a colorant; (iii) at least one of metallophthalocyanine and a metallophthalocyanine derivative having a central metal selected from the group consisting of Cr, Fe, C o, Ni, Zn, Mn, Mg, and Al; and (iv) a polymer containing 0.5 to 20% by mass of a base unit derived from a specific polymerizable monomer having an amide group.

A toner contains at least a binder resin, a colorant, a compound (A) and a compound (B) in which the compound (A) is selected from the specific compound group and the compound (B) is a derivative of any one of the compounds included in the group from which the compound (A) is selected. The total content A of the compound (A) and compound (B) in the toner is from 0.2% to 6% by weight based on the weight of the toner, and where the content of the cross-linking agent component in the binder resin is represented by B % by weight based on the weight of the toner, the following relationship is satisfied: 0.1&#x2266;A/B&#x2266;70.

Toner and image-forming method

A toner suitable for use in electrophotography, etc., is composed of toner particles each containing a binder resin, a colorant and a wax component. The toner has a number-average particle size of 2-6 &mgr;m and a standard deviation in particle size of below 2.6 &mgr;m based on a number-basis distribution of circle-equivalent diameters, an average circularity of 0.970-0.995 and a standard deviation in circularity of below 0.030 based on a circularity frequency distribution, and a residual monomer content of at most 500 ppm. The toner particles have such a microtexture as to provide a particle cross section as observed through a transmission electron microscope (TEM) exhibiting a matrix of the binder resin and a particle of the wax dispersed in a discrete form in the matrix of the binder resin.

Toner for developing electrostatic images and image forming method

A color toner (magenta toner) showing not only color image forming performances such as color reproducibility, gradation characteristic, light-fastness, full-color image forming characteristic and a chargeability but also excellent in matching with various members of an electrophotographic apparatus is produced from a binder resin, a wax component and a specific monoazo pigment composition. The monoazo pigment composition is characterized by a principal monoazo pigment of a specific structure and specified amounts of a &bgr;-naphthol derivative and an aromatic amine, usable as materials for synthesizing the monoazo pigment.

Toner and image forming method

A toner is comprised of a binder resin, a colorant and a wax. The binder resin has a polycarbonate resin in an amount of from 0.1% by weight to 50.0% by weight and a resin other than the polycarbonate resin in an amount of from 50.0% by weight to 99.9% by weight, based on the weight of the binder resin. In molecular weight distribution as measured by gel permeation chromatography of tetrahydrofuran-soluble matter, the toner contains in an amount of 15.0% by weight or less based on the weight of the toner a component which has in its structure a repeating unit of the polycarbonate resin and is contained in components having a molecular weight of 1,000 or less.

A magnetic toner for developing an electrostatic latent image has magnetic toner particles containing at least a binder resin, a magnetic powder and a wax component. The magnetic powder has magnetic iron oxide particles the particle surfaces of which have been coat-treated with an organic surface modifying agent. The magnetic iron oxide particles contain silicon element (Si) in an amount of from 0.4 to 2.0% by weight based on the weight of iron element (Fe) and the magnetic iron oxide particles have an Fe/Si atomic ratio of from 1.0 to 4.0 at their outermost surfaces. The magnetic toner particles have shape factors SF-1 and SF-2 as measured by an image analyzer, with a value of SF-1 of from 100 to 160, a value of SF-2 of from 100 to 140 and a value of (SF-2)/(SF-1) of not more than 1.0.

A toner contains at least a binder resin, a colorant, a wax and an aluminum compound, wherein the binder resin has an acid value of 1 to 40 mgKOH/g; the binder resin contains 2% to 50% by weight of tetrahydrofuran (THF) based on the weight of the binder resin; a tetrahydrofuran-soluble matter of the binder resin has a main peak in a molecular weight range of from 2,000 to 30,000 in a chromatogram by gel permeation chromatography (GPC); and the aluminum compound is a specific aluminum compound of substituted or unsubstituted benzilic acid.

A toner suitable for use in electrophotography, etc., is composed of toner particles each containing a binder resin, a colorant and a wax component. Each toner particle has such a microtexture as to provide a cross section as observed through a transmission electron microscope (TEM) exhibiting a matrix of the binder resin, a particle of the wax enclosed with the matrix; and the binder resin dispersed in a particulate form in the wax particle, and the toner particles have a residual monomer content of at most 500 ppm by weight of the toner particles. The colorant may also be dispersed in the wax particle enclosed within the matrix of the binder resin.

Toner and image forming method using the toner

A toner for use in development of electrostatic latent images is disclosed. The toner has toner particles containing a binder resin, a colorant, a wax and a compound of Formula (A): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.4 each represent a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic group, inclusive of a condensed ring; R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 each represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic group, inclusive of a condensed ring; M represents an element selected from B, Ti, Fe, Co, Cr, Al and Ni; and X.sup.n+ represents a cation. The toner has the shape factors SF-1 and SF-2 with the specified range. Further, disclosed are a process for producing the toner and an image forming method using the toner.
