Using a mold equipped with a rib-forming member capable of moving forward and backward relative to the mold cavity, produced is a lightweight, hollow resin molding having a reinforcing rib structure in the hollow area, from a fiber-containing thermoplastic resin having a fiber content of from 10 to 70% by weight. To produce the molding, a melt of a fiber-containing thermoplastic resin is injected into the mold cavity or is injected thereinto under compression, then the movable mold member is moved backward in the direction in which the mold cavity is expandable, and after the start of the mold member moving, a gas is introduced into the resin melt. Even though the molding has a hollow structure and has a large surface area, it has good stiffness and high strength, and has good appearances. The weight of the molding can be well controlled and reduced to any desired degree. The molding has many applications in various fields.

Lightweight resin molded product and production method thereof

A method for injection-molding a plastics propeller fan by using a fixed-side mold section and movable-side mold section, comprises the steps of providing a movable core at an area corresponding to a thicker portion of a blade section of the propeller fan; after a predetermined amount of plastics material has been injected into a blade space of a mold cavity defined by the fixed-side mold section, movable-side metal section and movable core and conforming to the propeller fan, pushing out the movable core into the mold cavity and, after this step, bringing the movable core back to a normal position conforming to a mold shape defining the blade space and forming a proper fan.

Method for injection-molding a propeller fan

A fiber-reinforced lightweight resin molded article with pores has a portion having a porosity lower than that of other general portions. Such a low-porosity portion serves as a rib in the resultant molded articles, to thereby enables to provide a fiber-reinforced lightweight resin molded article having excellent rigidity, bending strength, impact strength, uniformity of strength, resistance to local stress and torsion. The present invention also provides an efficient method for manufacturing the fiber-reinforced lightweight resin molded article.

Fiber-reinforced resin molded article and method of manufacturing the same

The method of forming a light-weight, fiber-reinforced, particularly glass fiber-reinforced-thermoplastic resin product includes the steps of melting and mixing thermoplastic resin pellets containing parallely oriented fibers 2-100 mm long, injecting the melted resin into a cavity which is closed so that its volume is smaller than that of the final molded product, and, before or after the resin injection is completed, opening the cavity until its volume is equal to that of the final molded product. Unlike the conventional injection-molded products, this product does not require a foaming agent and, if it uses any, requires only a small amount of foaming agent. The product thus formed is light in weight and has fibers uniformly entangled inside, providing an excellent appearance of the surface. Further a skin layer is formed over the surface. These features combined with the reinforcement by the glass fibers offer high strength and high stiffness.

Method of forming a light-weight, fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin product and a light-weight molded product

The present invention is directed to a method of obtaining a gas-introduced fiber-reinforced resin injection molding and to a molding obtained by the method. According to the present invention, there can be obtained a lightweight gas-introduced fiber-reinforced resin injection molding containing glass fibers or like fibers having excellent rigidity and strength and improved surface properties. The method includes the steps of: injecting into a die a molten resin obtained through the plasticization of a molding material; and introducing gas into the molten resin, the molding material comprising fiber-containing thermoplastic resin pellets which contain reinforcing fibers having a length of 2 mm to 100 mm, the reinforcing fibers accounting for 5% to 70% by weight of the molding material, the die including a movable die capable of advancing into and retracting from the internal cavity of the die, wherein after the injection of the molten resin into the die cavity is started, the movable die is retracted to a position where the die cavity assumes a volume corresponding to the molding, and gas is introduced into the molten resin filling the die cavity.

Method of obtaining a gas-introduced fiber-reinforced resin injection

Disclosed is a method of molding a fiber-reinforced resin laminate which can manufacture a lightweight laminated molding having excellent mechanical characteristics regardless of the shape of a molding, which can readily unite a surface coat material and a molding while the surface coat material is held in good condition, and which can impart excellent appearance to a laminated molding. Also disclosed is a laminated molding manufactured by the method. The method uses a molding material which contains fiber-containing thermoplastic resin pellets which, in turn, contain reinforcing fibers having a length of 2 mm to 100 mm. The reinforcing fibers account for 5% to 70% by weight of the molding material. A molten resin obtained through the plasticization of the molding material is injected into a die, onto which a surface coat material for covering the surface of a molding is previously attached. After injection of the molten resin into the die cavity is started, a movable die is advanced so as to compress the molten resin contained in the die cavity, followed by expansion of the volume of the die cavity to that of an intended molding.

The present invention relates to a composition useful in as a hair growth promoter which contains an extract drawn from a plant having a pseudo bulb selected from the group consisting of Calanthe R. Br. and Phaius Lour. The extract can be obtained from either a portion of a plant or the pseudo bulb of Calanthe discolor Lindl. or Phaius flavus (Blume) Lindl. by extraction of such a plant in an extraction solvent. The composition may include vitamins, amino acids, animal and plant oils, and sodium chloride. When applied to an area of skin afflicted with alopecia, the composition is useful for promoting hair growth.

The polypropylene-based composite resin composition of the invention, which can be molded into a shaped article having excellent surface hardness and impact strength at low temperatures and usable as a shell plate member of automobiles, comprises (a) a polypropylene resin as the matrix phase, (b) particles of rubber-reinforced styrene-based resin as the dispersed phase having a specified area-average particle diameter, of which the rubber particles having a specified area-average particle diameter forms a 'salami' structure as dispersed in the styrene-based resin, and (c) a layer of a compatibility improver, such as a styrene-based thermoplastic elastomer, on the surface of the particles of the rubber-reinforced styrene-based resin in a specified thickness.

Polypropylene-based resin composition

Disclosed is a glass fiber reinforced polyolefin resin composition comprising 15-80% by weight of polypropylene, 20-60% by weight of polybutene-1 and 5-60% by weight of glass fiber. This resin composition is excellent in the balance of impact strength, stiffness, heat distortion temperature, surface hardness and processability. When this composition is molded, the molded products have no surface roughness and no color shade and have good appearance. The properties are further improved when a modified polyolefin alone or together with a crystal nucleating agent are added.

A thermoplastic resin composition which comprises 30 to 99 wt % of a thermoplastic resin and 1 to 70 wt % of granulated fiber formed by granulating inorganic fibers having an average fiber diameter of 0.1 to 1.0 .mu.m, an aspect ratio of 50 to 300, and an oil absorption of 400 ml/100 g and above, said granulated fiber having an average diameter of 0.5 to 5 mm and a bulk density of 0.15 to 0.4. A process for producing a thermoplastic resin composition which comprises mixing in a mixer 30 to 99 wt % of a thermoplastic resin and 1 to 70 wt % of granulated fiber formed by granulating inorganic fibers having an average fiber diameter of 0.1 to 1.0 .mu.m, an aspect ratio of 50 to 300, and an oil absorption of 400 ml/100 g and above, said granulated fiber having an average diameter of 0.5 to 5 mm and a bulk density of 0.15 to 0.4.

A polyolefin composition is disclosed, which comprises a polyolefin and an inorganic filler, wherein the polyolefin composition comprising (A) 75 to 97% by weight of a polyolefin component comprising (a) 90-65 parts by weight of a polymer composition comprising a crystalline polypropylene component and an ethylene-propylene random copolymer component and having an ethylene content of 7% by weight or less and/or a propylene homopolymer and (b) 10 to 35 parts by weight of a polyethylene having a melt index of not lower than 10 g/10 min., said melt index being from 1.0 to 50 times that of the polymer (a), and (B) 25 to 3% by weight of a fibrous inorganic filler having an average fiber diameter of 0.1 to 0.8 micrometer and an aspect ratio of 20 to 60. The polyolefin composition is capable of providing, upon molding, articles having good surface appearance, in particular glossiness and improved mechanical strengths with less warping and deformation.

A polyolefin resin composition comprising from 30% to 96% by weight of a polyolefin, from 3% to 50% by weight of a fibrous inorganic filler selected from the group consisting of a magnesium hydroxide fiber, a magnesium oxide fiber, and a gypsum fiber having a mean fiber diameter of from 0.1 to 2 .mu.m and an aspect ratio of from 20 to 100 or a mixture of two or more of said inorganic fillers, and from 1% to 60% by weight of a thermoplastic elastomer. The said composition provides a molded material which has a good external appearance and is excellent in the impact strength, rigidity, and heat stability.
