A heat extensible fiber comprises a conjugate fiber including a first resin component having an orientation index of 30% to 70% and a second resin component having a lower melting point or softening point than the melting point of the first resin component and an orientation index of 40% or more, the second resin component being present on at least part of the surface of the conjugate fiber in a lengthwise continuous configuration. The conjugate fiber is a heat-treated or crimped fiber and being configured to thermally extend when heated at a temperature lower than the melting point of the first resin component. The heat extensible fiber has higher heat self-extensibility than conventional extensible fibers.

Heat extensible fiber

A stretchable composite sheet having a number of ridges in a neat and orderly arrangement is disclosed. The stretchable composite sheet is easily produced by the process of the invention. The stretchable composite sheet is a laminate of a stretch sheetand a nonstretch sheet. The stretch sheethas first zoneshaving elastic stretchability and second zoneshaving less stretchability than the first zones. The first zonesand the second zonesextend in the same direction and alternate with each other. The stretch sheetand the nonstretch sheetare bonded over substantially the entire area of their facing sides. The stretchable composite sheet has a large number of ridgeson the side of the nonstretch sheet.

Stretchable composite sheet

A stretch nonwoven fabriccontains inelastic fibers having a varied thickness along the length and elastic fibers. The nonwoven fabricpreferably includes an elastic fiber layerand a substantially inelastic, inelastic fiber layeron at least one side of the elastic fiber layer. The fibers with a varied thickness along the length are contained in the inelastic fiber layer. The nonwoven fabricis conveniently produced by (a) superposing a web containing low-drawn, inelastic fibers having an elongation of 80% to 800% on at least one side of a web containing elastic fibers, (b) subjecting the webs, while in a non-united state, to through-air technique to obtain a fibrous sheet having the webs united together by thermal bonding the fibers at their intersections, and (c) stretching the fibrous sheet in at least one direction to draw the low-drawn inelastic fibers, followed by releasing the sheet from the stretch.

Stretch nonwoven fabric

A heat fusible conjugate fiber produced by high-speed melt spinning is disclosed. The conjugate fiber is composed of a first resin component having an orientation index of 40% or higher and a second resin component having a lower melting or softening point than the melting point of the first resin component and an orientation index of 25% or lower. The second resin component is present on at least part of the surface of the fiber in a lengthwise continuous configuration. The conjugate fiber preferably has a heat shrinkage of 0.5% or less at a temperature higher than the melting or softening point of the second resin component by 10&#xb0; C.

Hot-melt conjugate fiber

An absorbent article comprising a liquid retentive absorbent layer containing a superabsorbent polymer and a liquid-impermeable leak proof layer is disclosed. An agent having a skin care effect and substantially no decomposing action on the superabsorbent polymer is fixed on a prescribed region of the absorbent article in a state ready to be released from that region upon contact with moisture.
