A vehicle display device includes a display configured to display a video; a first mirror configured to reflect the video displayed in the display; and a second mirror configured to reflect the video reflected on the first mirror, wherein a distance from eye point of occupant of vehicle to a reflecting image formed by the second mirror is optically extended such that it becomes longer than a distance from the eye point of the occupant to a display surface of the display.

Vehicle display device and vehicle display system

A virtual image display device includes: a display unit that generates an image display light by modulating an illumination light; and a projection optical system that includes a concave mirror for reflecting the image display light toward a virtual image presentation plate and a convex lens provided between the display unit and the concave mirror. The display unit is provided at a position closer to the convex lens than a focal point, within a meridional plane, of a composite optical system formed by the virtual image presentation plate and the projection optical system.

Virtual image display device

An image display device includes: a projection port that projects image display light generated based on an image signal; and a combiner that presents a virtual image by reflecting the image display light projected from the projection port. With respect to a specific direction along a reflection surface of the combiner, the curvature of the combiner in the specific direction becomes smaller as a distance from the projection port becomes larger. The reflection surface of the combiner may be formed by a biconic surface.

Image display device

An display apparatus, for a vehicle, according to one embodiment includes a substrate housing portion, an optical unit, a turning member, and a plate-like attachment plate. The substrate housing portion contains a circuit substrate for outputting an image signal of an image to be displaced. The optical unit generates an image based on the image signal outputted from the circuit substrate and projects the generated image. The combiner is provided at one end of the optical unit, and the image is projected onto the combiner. The turning member connects the optical unit to the substrate housing portion in a freely rotatable manner. The plate-like attachment plate is used to mount the substrate housing portion to a rear-view mirror such that the optical unit is freely rotatable without coming into contact with the rear-view mirror inside a vehicle.

Display apparatus for vehicle

A light guide plate receives light, which is emitted from a light source, and emits the light from a light emitting surface. A prism sheet reflects light at a predetermined angle among the light emitted from the light emitting surface, allows the reflected light to enter the light guide plate, and transmits light at another angle thereamong. Between a &#xbc; wavelength plate and a reflection-type liquid crystal display element, a polarization control element is provided in parallel to the light emitting surface. The polarization control element splits the light, which is emitted from the &#xbc; wavelength plate, into first polarized light allowed to transmit as illumination light that enters the reflection-type liquid crystal display element and second polarized light reflected so as to enter the light guide plate, and reflects the light modulated and emitted by the reflection-type liquid crystal display element.

Projection device

An image display device includes: an image generation unit that generates image display light based on an image signal; a projection unit that projects the image display light generated by the image generation unit; a combiner that presents the image display light projected by the projection unit as a virtual image; and a rotating unit that rotationally moves the combiner along at least one rotation surface, wherein the projection unit changes a direction in which the image display light is projected based on the rotational movement of the combiner.

A light guide plate receives light emitted from the light source, and emits the light from a light emitting surface. A prism sheet reflects light at a predetermined angle among the light emitted from the light emitting surface, allows the reflected light to enter the light guide plate, and transmits light at another angle. A polarization control element is provided between a 1/4 wavelength plate and a reflection-type liquid crystal display element so as to be parallel to the light emitting surface. The polarization control element splits the light emitted from the 1/4 wavelength plate into first polarized light allowed to transmit as illumination light that enters the reflection-type liquid crystal display element and second polarized light reflected so as to enter the light guide plate, and reflects the light modulated and emitted by the reflection-type liquid crystal display element toward an imaging lens.

Display device

A concave mirror of a reflective display device, which includes a reflector, a concave mirror arranged inside of an instrument panel, a display body, a lighting device, a display control circuit, driving parameters and the like, has reflecting surfaces with different wavelength selectivities, and the reflecting surfaces are formed into reflecting surface shapes of different focal lengths. By image light reflected selectively from the concave mirror, it is possible to present virtual images in different positions to an observer.

The screen retainerhas an optical transparency. The light blocking memberis arranged so as to surround respective side surfaces of the screenin the form of a frame. At least part of the light blocking memberis arranged so as to project to the side of the back surfaceof the screen.

Screen assembly and rear-projection type graphic display device

A projection type display device includes a image displaying element having image display areas for displaying a plurality of images respectively, a projection optical system having an emitting part for emitting projection light flux to the image display areas of the image displaying element, and a plurality of screens for displaying projected images by the projection light flux transmitted through the image display areas of the image displaying element. In the projection type display device, the image display areas are formed in respective areas in the image displaying element independent of each other. The projected images on the screens correspond to the image display areas, respectively. Each of the screens is arranged in such a position that the each of the screens is not overlapped with shadows of the other screens which are produced since the projection light flux is emitted from the emitting part to the screens.

One of preferred embodiments according to the present invention provides a reflection type projection apparatus that includes wire grid polarizers provided respectively for red (R), green (G) and blue (B) light that allow a first polarization component included in R, G, or B light from illumination units to pass therethrough and reflect second polarization components of R, G and B colors that have been produced when reflection type spatial light modulation elements respectively for R, G and B light light-modulate and reflect the first polarization component having once passed through the wire grid polarizers respectively for R, G and B light, the transmission type polarizing plates provided respectively for R, G and B light, and a color combination optical system in this order along a light path, wherein any one of the light reflection surface of at least one of the wire grid polarizers respectively for R, G and B light, the light transmission surface of at least one of the transmission type polarizing plates for R, G and B light, and at least one of the light incident surfaces of the color combination optical system is convexly or concavely shaped in accordance with lateral chromatic aberration of the projection lens, in order to correct for the reduction of lateral chromatic aberration of the image projected on a projection plane.

Reflection type projection display apparatus

A white light emitted from a light source is homogenized by an integrator optical system, transmitted through a color polarizer () to be turned into an R light and a G light of a P polarized light, and transmitted through a color polarizer () to be turned into a G light of an S polarized light and an R light of a P polarized light. These R light and G light are subjected to light modulation in a reflection type spatial light modulation element for G and a reflection type spatial light modulation element for R arranged at unequal distances from a polarization split surface of a polarizing beam splitter (), and emitted from a projection lens having an axial chromatic aberration corresponding to the unequal distances.

Projection display apparatus

An image display apparatus includes a diaphragm () arranged at a pupil position. The shape of an aperture of the diaphragm () is similar to the shape of a light source image formed by an illuminating optical system at the pupil position. An area varying mechanism () varies the area of the aperture of the diaphragm () in response to a focal length varying operation of a projection lens (). This prevents an excessive opening from being formed around a light source image cast by the illuminating optical system, thereby preventing the deterioration of displayed images due to unwanted light that may pass through the excessive opening.
