A beverage container holding device includes a first rotating member supported by a holder main body such that the first rotating member can swing horizontally. The first rotating member includes a first shaft member supported by the holder main body and extending in an up-and-down direction, and a first main body supported by the first shaft member such that the first main body can be present in a receiving portion and retract from the receiving portion. The first main body includes a front contact surface portion having a contact portion, which the beverage container received in the receiving portion can contact. The front contact surface portion makes, at least at the contact portion, an obtuse angle with an imaginary line extending from a center of the first shaft member to the contact portion.

The hinge structure of a console box including a brake shaft and a braking device, arranged in a place displaced in the axial direction of a hinge shaft and disposed on one side of the hinge shaft. When opening and closing a lid, the drive shaft and the hinge shaft rotate in conjunction with the rotation of the lid, while a friction plate between the brake shaft and a braking plate is pressed against the rotating end face and the stationary brake plate, which is secured to a storage box, and a predetermined friction force can be produced continuously. Due to the friction force, the lid can be rotated under the influence of a moderate extent of rotational resistance when opening and closing the lid, and the position of the lid can be kept in the place where the lid stopped rotating within a rotatable range of the lid.

A vehicle console with an adjustable armrest has a single operation knob at a fore-end of an armrest to open and close a storage well and to adjust position of an armrest for individual vehicle drivers. The armrest includes a pair of latch members driven by the operation knob. When the operation knob is at the end of the downward rotation, the latch members are inserted into catch holes in the console box, and the armrest is fixed to the console box in a 'lock mode'. When the operation knob is halfway from the 'lock mode', the latch members are drawn out of the catch holes but remain in grooves in the console box in a &#x201c;semi-lock mode&#x201d;, wherein the armrest can slide along the grooves but cannot open the storage well. When the operation knob is drawn up to the end of the upward direction, the latch members are drawn out of the grooves and the armrest is in a &#x201c;unlock mode&#x201d; and the storage well can open and close.

In an initialization operation of a system, an I/O trap SMI is issued to a CPU, and CPU state map information is stored in a predetermined area in an SM-RAM. When an interrupt control process occurs during the activation of an OS, the CPU state map information formed in the initialization operation is set in the CPU, and the CPU operation mode is changed to an original mode in which interrupts from various I/O devices are enabled. In the original mode of the CPU, parallel processing using an interrupt is executed. Initialization commands are sequentially issued to a plurality of devices such as a KBC, an HDD, and a display controller. The KBC, the HDD, and the display controller generate command completion interrupt signals upon completion of the command processes for their initialization operations. Next commands are sequentially issued to devices which have generated the command completion interrupt signals. A plurality of devices are initialized in accordance with the command completion interrupt signals from these devices.
