A ceramic filter is provided with a porous substrate'made of ceramic and having partition wallsseparating and forming a plurality of cellsextending from one end faceto the other end face', a separation membrane'made of ceramic and disposed on wall surfaces of the cells', and glass sealsdisposed on the one end faceand on the other end face&#x201c;so as not to cover openings of the cells&#x201d;. Ceramic particles having a thermal expansion coefficient of 90 to 110% of that of glass contained in the glass sealsare dispersed in the glass seals. There is provided a ceramic filter usable for a long period of time in high temperature conditions.

Ceramic filter

There is disclosed a ceramic separation membrane. This ceramic separation membrane includes a porous substrate, and a separation layer formed on the substrate. The separation layer is a laminate having an outermost layer positioned on the most surface side, and a base layer positioned in a lower layer than the outermost layer and made of zeolite. The outermost layer is a layer made of a siliceous material containing 90 mol % or more of silica, an organic material-containing amorphous silica material having a Si&#x2014;Cn&#x2014;Si (wherein n is 1 or 2) bond and a Si/C ratio of 0.5 to 2, or a carbonaceous material containing 90 mass % or more of carbon. The outermost layer is different from the base layer.

Ceramic separation membrane and dehydration method

Provided is a ceramic filter that can be used for a long time at a high temperature, including a porous substrate having a partition wall that defines and forms a cell extending from one end face to the other end face, the porous substrate being made of ceramic a separation membrane disposed on a wall face in the cell; and glass seal disposed at the one end face and the other end face so as not to block open frontal areas of the cell. The glass seal includes glass and inorganic particles dispersed in the glass, the inorganic particles being made of clay, and a ratio of a coefficient of thermal expansion of the glass seal to a coefficient of thermal expansion of the porous substrate is 90% or less.

There are disclosed a ceramic porous membrane formed with less membrane formation times and having less defects, a small and uniform thickness and a high flux, and a ceramic filter. A silica membrane is formed on a titania UF membrane as an ultrafiltration membrane (a UF membrane) formed on a porous base member which is a microfiltration membrane (also referred to as an MF membrane) and having an average pore diameter smaller than that of the porous base member, and the silica membrane has an average pore diameter smaller than that of the titania UF membrane, and does not substantially permeates the titania UF membrane.

Ceramic pervaporation membrane and ceramic vapor-permeable membrane

There is disclosed a method of manufacturing a thin and uniform ceramic filter formed with less membrane formation times and having less defects. A ceramic sol whose average pore diameter after the sol itself has been formed into a membrane is larger than that of a ceramic separation membrane and is 10 nm or less is brought into contact with the surface of a ceramic separation membrane having an average pore diameter of 0.5 to 10 nm, and the ceramic separation membrane having the ceramic sol is dried and then fired to repair a defect portion of the ceramic separation membrane.

Method of manufacturing ceramic filter

There are disclosed a ceramic porous membrane formed with less membrane formation times and having less defects, a small and uniform thickness and a high resolution, and a ceramic filter. A silica membrane as a ceramic porous membrane is formed on a titania UF membrane as an ultrafiltration membrane (a UF membrane) formed on a porous base member which is a microfiltration membrane (also referred to as an MF membrane) and having an average pore diameter smaller than that of the porous base member, the silica membrane has an average pore diameter smaller than that of the titania UF membrane and a part of the silica membrane permeates the titania UF membrane.

A ceramic filter includes a porous base member formed of a ceramic porous body, a carbonaceous membrane formed on the porous base member, and an inorganic separation membrane formed on the carbonaceous membrane. According to a method for the ceramic filter for reuse, the deteriorated ceramic filter is thermally treated to remove the carbonaceous membrane and the inorganic membrane from the porous base member, then the carbonaceous membrane is formed on the porous base member, and the inorganic membrane is formed on the carbonaceous membrane.

Ceramic filter and regenerating method thereof

A ceramic filter is provided, including a base body having partition walls made of a ceramic porous body and defining cells, filter membranes provided on the partition walls which are made of a ceramic porous body having an average pore diameter smaller than that of the surface of each partition wall, and a glass seal provided to cover at least the end face of the base body. The glass seal includes an alkali-free glass containing silica (SiO2) in an amount of 55 to 65 mol %, zirconia (ZrO2) in an amount of 1 to 10 mol % and at least one kind of alkaline earth metal oxide selected from calcia, baria and strontia, but which does not substantially contain zinc oxide.

A ceramic filter is provided including a substrate, a separation layer comprising titania and having an average pore size in a range of 0.08 to 1 &#x3bc;m and a thickness in a range of 5 to 20 &#x3bc;m, and an intermediate layer formed between the substrate and the separation layer. The intermediate layer includes aggregate particles that are bonded together with glass frits, and aggregate particles of the intermediate layer are smaller than aggregate particles of the substrate and larger than aggregate particles of the separation layer.

Ceramic filter and method for purifying water

A ceramic porous body is provided which uses a binder made of a glass that has excellent acid resistance and alkali resistance and which can be used for a long period of time as a filtration filter. The ceramic porous body is formed from ceramic particles that are bonded using a glass binder comprising 5 to 20 mol % of a plurality of metal oxides, selected from the group consisting of LiO, NaO, KO, MgO, CaO, SrO and BaO and containing at least two alkali metal oxides selected from the group consisting of LiO, NaO and KO as an essential component, at least 3 mol % of at least one of ZrOand TiOas a total amount, and SiOand incidental impurities as the balance.

Ceramic porous body and method of manufacturing glass usable as binder therefor

A method for manufacturing a filter utilizing a porous ceramic membrane as a separation film is provided, comprising the steps of substituting the air inside fine-pores of the porous substrate with a liquid, isolating the porous substrate face to be provided with a separation film, the other face of the porous substrate face not provided with the separation film, continuously feeding a film deposition slurry containing ceramic framework particles to allow the slurry to contact the face of the porous substrate to be provided with the separation film, applying a differential filtration pressure between the faces of the porous substrate, and depositing the slurry on the surface of the porous substrate. An organic polymer for endowing the deposition film with filtration resistance is added to the slurry.

Method for manufacturing filter having ceramic porous film as separating film

A method for manufacturing a filter utilizing a ceramic porous membrane is provided, comprising the step of depositing a film deposition slurry containing ceramic framework particles on the surface of a porous substrate. The slurry contains an organic polymer for expanding gaps among the ceramic framework particles, and the micro-pore size of the porous membrane is controlled by adjusting the weight ratio between the framework particles and the organic polymer in the slurry, thereby enabling a porous membrane having a desired micro-pore size to be formed irrespective of the particle size of the framework particles.

The ceramic porous membrane comprises ceramic particles and ceramic sol particles (with the exception of TiO sol particles). The ceramic particles and the ceramic sol particles are kneaded to obtain a kneaded product or a slurry, and the kneaded product or the slurry are sintered at a lower temperature. The ceramic sol particles have an average particle diameter of &frac15; or less of an average particle diameter of the ceramic particles, and the ceramic sol has a solid content of 1 to 30% by weight based on the weight of solid content of the ceramic particles. The method of manufacturing a ceramic porous membrane includes adding ceramic particles) having an average particle diameter of &frac15; or less an average particle diameter of ceramic particles to the ceramic particles such that the solid content of the ceramic sol is 1 to 30% by weight based on the weight of a solid content of the ceramic particles, mixing the particles, depositing or molding the resulting mixture, and heat treating the resulting film or molded product at 300&deg; C. or less under vapor atmosphere, or at 300 to 700&deg; C. under ambient atmosphere, thereby fixing the ceramic particles.
